Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

Status
Not open for further replies.
5.4 this morning spiked to 7.6 post my usual brekky that doesn't normally take me up more tan 0.5.... Bedtime was 9.2.... Only had sausages, black pudding, egg and a teensy portion of instant noodles for tea....but test was 3 to 4 hrs later... 4.3 after cheese, scrambled egg and 2 buttered ryvita for dinner.....

Have I got this right. You went to bed on 9.2 but woke up on 5.4? That doesn't sound very likely. Was your 5.4 a rogue reading? A higher fasting level would fit in more with your bedtime 9.2 and your post breakfast 7.6.

How would everyone feel about a summary of the days' readings to help follow this thread? Let me know if there are any objections. Apologies in advance if I have missed any posts or misread any posts.

I'm not posting fasting levels on a regular basis, but readings are:
M - 5.9, Tu - 5.9
last 7 days: low: 5.8 high: 6.9 avg: 6.2
for the month: low: 5.8 high: 7.8 avg 6.4

They've been all over the place recently as I've not been too well for a while, and am definitely seeing this reflected in both my pre and post meal levels as well (though I am keeping pretty closely to my LCHF 30-50g carbs a day) .

Thanks Mike. Since the beginning of February (when I started testing) I've only had 2 lower than 7.0 so maybe I'm heading in the right direction. I did get a shock yesterday - but it was self-inflicted. For a number of reasons I didn't have anything to eat at all until 16:00 by which time I was really ravenous. So, I succumbed to 2 small slices of wholemeal bread at 9g carbohydrate per slice with butter and ham. Before eating I was reading 4.8 (probably barely alive !) and 1 hour after I was 8.2. Fortunately, I went back down to 6.8 after 2 hours. Taught me a lesson - eat 3 meals a day.

Yep, but good the numbers came down :)

I would have said the 9.2 was rogue had I not checked twice.....5.4 is around my average fasting so think my body sorted itself out overnight. I think as its a cereal mix I did myself it may have been heavier in one of the more car by ingredients than usual. Think what I thought was coconut flour was actually coconut milk and it was heavy on that taste today

I was .5.2 yesterday if you want to edit that in....

I think it's a great idea to do this sort of summary, though I hope people won't start worrying over much if they're not getting good levels.

My meter gives me basic trends and averages, and the Bayer software that i upload to on my PC does the same in more details, and provides graphs too. But that's almost an overkill for me as it can do a lot of stuff with insulin as well that hopefully I'll not need for a long time yet...

@s_k_s Hi I will have to start posting more regularly and get on your list.

We need a some form of grid in this editing suite so we can input data more easily who do we speak to regards that?

4.6 before dinner
5.2 after dinner of chicken salad
5.4 fasting
All batch 44
I did try 61 and readings were almost same.
