6.5 this morning - not sure of strict testing criteria? Should we be testing the moment we wake up (rather impractical for me) or normal fasting criteria (10 hours fasting?) I ask because I got to bed very late (past midnight) and had my evening meal just before going to bed. I did wait 10 hours fasting (only had a couple of coffees with no sugar (just sweetener)) in that time. Does sweetener affect things, sorry - so many questions.
Back on a strict 800 calories per day from today too after recent travel distractions. Am just over 12 stone and want to be 11st 7lbs in two weeks and we'll see how the readings go. Recent poor readings have regenerated my motivation!
I'm with Kimbo on the protein effect.... I had two veggie days and my number fell by 1.0-1.5.... will experiment again and see the response.... sometime...Well, I decided when I started 10 months ago, to go for 30gm per day carbs- some said it was being harsh but I've been fine. I do have protein most days, cheese and meat etc, it's only on odd times of having a lot of meat I find a slight rise, max of a point though!
Fasting 7.3
I had a prang in my car yesterday and was soooo stressed about it all day that I couldn't even eat.
My morning BG levels are usually around 5, but this morning it was 8! is this usual? Does stress do this?
Stress is widely believed to be a trigger for diabetes in the first place.
A prolonged period of severe stress is what brought on my Type 2 Diabetes - I vividly remember my Dr and Practice Nurse telling me I didn't fit the standard profile for someone to be diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes.
Hmm, fitness app on my phone reckoned I walked 5 miles in just under an hour - sounds optimistic But I apparently burned more calories than I had for lunch
Thanks Kimbo, losing weight is never going to be either popular or easy, although I have managed it a few years ago.Well, I decided when I started 10 months ago, to go for 30gm per day carbs- some said it was being harsh but I've been fine. Many thanks CliveNice consistent figures, just ease down slowly to 5.5 and you'll be good
You may be surprised on lchf, I started it with the focus on reducing my bg's .... was amazed how quickly the weight dropped too! Years ago I did low fat, low cal, lost bit gained quickly when I stopped! Also, was always hungry....hardly ever now and still losing!!Thanks Kimbo, losing weight is never going to be either popular or easy, although I have managed it a few years ago.
I was almost 18 stone a month ago - down to 17 stone now - being diagnosed T2 was the wake up call I needed so 40 mins excercise bike daily and with my change of diet I think I am moving in the right direction
Interesting - so not obviously overweight and/or eating lots of carbs?
