My partner has recently been diagnosed as type 2 diabetic. I'm borderline pre-diabetic. My mother was diagnosed diabetic in her late 40's, I helped her with her injections and diet. But a lot has changed in the 50 years since then and I'm now at a loss to understand how this all works these days. I'm trying to help my partner through this minefield, who is even more confused than me, whilst also trying to change my diet to try and ensure I don't tip over into full diabetic mode, as it were.
