Reverse Type 2 Diabetes with a LCHF diet. Is this a myth?

I am not a Vegan and find my Keto borderline carnivore, but I try to be inclusive and I know that you can have a low carb high fat vegan diet. Going strict vegan and cutting out high carbs does produce good early results, but I am unconvinced on the long term health benefits. It requires a...

    Diabetic hypochondria & going barefoot

Most newly diagnosed T2D have probably been suffering from high blood sugars years before they detect that they are diabetic. You don't even need to have diabetes to suffer neuropathy as it is a sympton of long term sugar contamination and insulin resistance on its own. If she was simply...

Covid and Work, Covid Advice and General Chat

What we know about COVID-19 is that it loves people with underlying health issues, particularly those with high levels of inflammation. As T2D we already know that we have underlying health issues, but then so do most other people without knowing it. If we have to expose ourselves to COVID-19...

    Diabetic hypochondria & going barefoot

You should go to your GP and have it checked out. There is little that can be done medically for diabetic neuropathy. If the tingling and irritation gets too much they can prescrib gabapentin to reduce the symptoms. It looks like your at an early stage. You need to halt or reverse the condition...

Metformin if Type 2 in remission?

I put my T2D into remission and stopped my metformin last April. Never looked back. My HbA1c in February was 23. The best metformin can do for you is drop your BSL by a couple of points and any benefits you get from it our lost the moment you have that extra processed cabs with your snack or...

    Hi, newly diagnosed Type 2

I would second the recommendation that you start your diabetes research by YouTubing Dr. Jason Fung.

    A big thank you

I would strongly recommend you ditch the porridge aswell as the sugar. The porridge is just another form of sugar. When you start the day with sugar you start thst sugar craving. Have a couple of eggs with say some salmon or bacon instead. You will find that losing the processed carbs will pay...

    Newly diagnosed coeliacs

GF cereals are likely to have added sugar and or fruit. The fructose in the cereal may be adversely affecting your liver which triggers signals to your pancreas to increase insulin. I am always surprised when a coeliac talks about eating bread and cereals. Wheat intolerance usually accompanies...

Whole grain bread and apple setback - help!

Can I recommend you avoid carb counting. This generally means spending time trying to eat what you shouldn't be eating and hoping to get away with it by counting the carb content. Carbs behave differently in different foods and types of sugar. Sugar in apples is mainly fructose. This doesn't...

    LOW CARB SUCCESS STORIES

I don't believe an extended fast is the answer, as you will lose lean meat. Intermittent fasting is safer and allows you to take in sufficient protein and fats to retain muscle mass. I started Keto and intermittent fasting last March. I already had good HbA1c readings for T2D (I.e. 35, 38, etc)...

How can I reduce my glucose levels please?

How an individual deals with his/her diabetes and or other metabolic issues (if they deal with it at all) is very personal to that individual. My goal was to get rid of it because I had in addition to the T2D, neuropathy and background retinopathy and became concerned that despite good BSL for...

How can I reduce my glucose levels please?

Why tolerate a slice of bread when you can simply skip it. Enjoy the walk for it's own sake. In any event a walk is not going to burn off the food you ate, although it may reduce your insulin slightly and all that happens is you get incrementally fatter.
