Increased basal = increased fasting sugars

I'm no newcomer having been T1 for 44 years. Forcsone time (10 years-sh) I've had Dawn Phenomenon with frequent fasting sugars of between 10 and 15mmol. The obvious suggestion of increasing my basal (Toujeo) has unpredictable results. When I adjust I always wait 10 days before readjusting but...

    Dawn phenomenon

I should also point out that if I increase the basal (Toujeo) from my current 70 units by 2 (to 72units) my fasting bloods dip to 3.6 to 4ish on an almost daily basis. I find it odd that about 3% ish change has that affect but another reason to be happy with my "9".

    Dawn phenomenon

Thanks, that's really helpful to know.

    Dawn phenomenon

I've had Dawn Phenomenon for many years with, I'm sorry to say little meaningful support from my DSN until recently. Previously I was told to increase my basal insulin by about 10% for about 4-5 days. I've now found that raising my dose by about 5% and leaving it for 10 days gives my body more...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

I suffer from both brittle diabetes and Dawn phenomenon. Mine was 12.9 at 9:00 this morning but hit about 16 at 3am and 4.5 at 6;00. Despite many chats with my nursing specialist they haven’t helped. It's not a simple matter of raising my basal as that can result in hypos. For the past 3 weeks...

    Freestyle libre 2 problems

I find it interesting that despite my assertion, which was backed by one of their own, that my issue is regarding their apps compatibility with Android 13, the persistent;y - almost abousivile - repeated that it was my phone that isn't compatible. !!! yay this week they admit that their App ISNT...

    Freestyle libre 2 problems

I had this issue and it isn't the sensor. I found I had to go into the phone settings (in addition to the Abbot App) by accessing setttings/phone/apps/phone/appnotifications/ and making sure it was allowed. I needed to do exactly the same with librelink app so - into settings/Apps/Librelink/App...

    Freestyle libre 2 problems

Abbott say that alarms only sound on the device that activates the sensor. I can confirm that as true. I still have annokser phone on the old app and android. That works fine butcwhy should I need to use an old phone?

    Freestyle libre 2 problems

My problem is that the phone doesn't alarm at all. Not since Abbott updated the Android app in October. Since then I can only activate a sensor with one if their Libre2 readers. They alarm but due to other issues - not least they only sinc with libreview by plugging a usb into a computer (no Web...

    Diabetes snobbery

I have encountered diabetes snobbery a few times. Sometime from T1 as in "I'm a real diabetic cos I need insulin" and from T2 as in "at least I only need tablets and not insulin' to a T2 saying that his is worse because it's harder to control with tablets. My view is tat they are all wrong as we...

    Freestyle libre 2 problems

PS I'm assuming that you activate new sensor with your phone and not another device as the warnings only work on the device that activates the sensor. I have a different issue, my phone won't activate the sensor but a reader will. I activate on the reader then a few minutes alter I scan the new...

    Freestyle libre 2 problems

I had the same problem initially and found that I had to go into the phones general settings to change a permission there. Sorry I can't remember where and no doubt different phones are different(?) but once re set it worked fine.

    Freestyle libre 2 problems

I can confirm and reiterate what people have said about Abbott Libre 2 - including ongoing App problems which Abbott refuse to acknowledge properly. When I first used Libre 2 I added the app to my hone and everything worked well except I soon found that my 3 year old phone's (a Samsung A20)...
