Ah I’ve just had my latest hba1c come back, 47 again! After intermittent fasting for the last 6 months and drastic dietary changes.
But because it still falls within the borderline levels, the DR isn’t interested.
Hi there
My GP referred me to the consultant at the hospital and I waited 5 months to be told this week that they aren’t going to do any further testing as I am borderline and therefore pre diabetic with my hba1c at 48.
They said I can just go on metformin if I’m concerned.
I’m worried that I...
The foods that tend to trigger my IBS are veggies and legumes. Veggies have been considerably increased since I’ve been following a lower carb life style. I.e bowl of cauliflower with my meals instead of rice for example.
My fat intake has always been high. I’ve never counted calories. I 100%...
Hey yes I’m in the UK. I’m also baffled that the consultant has only offered a glucose tolerance test for ‘academic reasons’ but eventually the GP decided against it as the treatment, according to them, would be Metformin either way.
I’m a healthy weight again now (8 stone, 5 ft 5) as I’ve...
Yes already testing my bloods. Not as often as I’d like as the strips are costly. However it gives me an idea of how food is affecting me. Seems that since I’ve been increasing my carbs a little bit, I am getting less of a spike ironically.
Unfortunately the GP won’t do anything for me...
Weirdly, since I have increased my carb intake over the last few months, I have been able to keep my bloods below 9 (which is a good figure for me) and I am back to a healthy weight. So that seems to work a bit better for me.
I also do intermittent fasting and will eat between 12-7pm only. I...
Hi Jim
Yes was eating A LOT of fat on the lower carb diet. I was having to make keto cakes full of double cream in the evenings to increase my fat intake even more. It’s true that you do lose weight on a low carb diet! Unfortunately I never did have any weight I needed to lose. I do still...
I already eat low carb and as explained in my post I am not overweight so this does not apply to me. To put in context, I am 7 and a half stone and 5 ft 5 in height.
I wondered if someone can help, or has been/is in the same position as me.
I went to the GP back in October 2019 with some general symptoms and they ran a Hba1c test which came back at 48. They did another a few months later and it came back at 47. Despite healthy eating, exercise and being...
Hi Ziggy
Thanks for your response. There has been no mention of Type 1 but I will mention it to the doctors.
My dad is pre diabetic and my grandma has type 2 diabetes so the doctors have mentioned the genetics could be the cause. That being said I am much younger that my dad and his score is...
I am currently being tested for diabetes. I am a 27 year old female and have always been a healthy and slim weight.
My Hba1c in October was 48 (plus elevated liver enzymes) and in December was 47 (liver enzymes improved). The doctor has requested to retest in March due to being borderline.
I...
