Tesco doing low carb meals now.

The problem for me is food that is low carb usually has vegetables in it which I can't eat at the moment as I can't digest them. I don't know how I remain at non diabetic BG numbers because although I eat chicken, eggs and fish I have no choice but to eat a couple of slices of bread and...

    Blood glucose too low ?

I haven't been able to have my A1c checked for over a year as I've been housebound with something else and am waiting for a colostomy op. But after losing 5 stones (70lbs) through controlling sugar and carbs I am diet controlled and my BS is usually in the 4s or 5s and 6s and 7s 2 hours after...

Beardie, I've never had a BG reading that high. I'm usually between 4 and about 7.4 max. - 2 hrs after a meal. I still test as usual.

I'm back - with diet problem!

My doctor has told me that my diabetes is in remission, you were right 'And Breathe'. I will still have my check ups but, if I remain at my current weight - or lower, and continue to eat as I am I should be OK.:). Due to having to have my bowel surgery I am only just able to start...

On 19 July I was rushed to hospital with an Ischemic bowel, part of my small and large bowel had died and had to be removed in emergency surgery or it could have killed me, then my small and large bowel was resected. One of the after effects of this surgery is chronic diarrhoea which can be...

    Heat and levels

I'm in the Southwest and my BS has been up a point or two over the last few days. It's very humid/thundery which is giving me headaches/earache and I'm getting over a UTI, and generally feeling awful. I haven't altered my diet so know it's not that. Also I'm worrying about 2 hospital...

First results of HbA1c level since diagnosis (good news!!!)

You are doing very well, Richard. I had my first check since diagnosis recently and still have a little way to go, although I did well. It takes time to change our lives around!

    chance?

When I was diagnosed last November I had heard of it but didn't know much about it. I was just told to stop eating sugar and sweets and given a prescription for metformin. And then I found this site and really learned all about it. I couldn't tolerate the metformin so in the end stopped them...

    NHS : late payers

At one time when one of my dogs needed vet treatment the vet used to accept payment straight from the insurance company, but often had to wait for 6 months or more to be payed. If I made the claim to be sent to me it was up to 2 weeks. So now, I make the claim to be sent to me and then take...

    Results of 6 mth check-up.

I put the strangling experience down to a nightmare because my husband tried to strangle me last year and it brought it all back. But I will mention it when I go to hospital. I do have some things in a bag in case I need to get to hospital because I've been feeling so unwell lately. My BP is...

    Results of 6 mth check-up.

Thanks Peacetrain. I woke up breathless today and then my pulse was around 103 and I felt dizzy. About a week ago pulse was in the 30s and 40s which made me giddy and it was the D nurse who discovered it. I'm waiting for my appointment with the specialist who will fit me with something to...

    Results of 6 mth check-up.

Hi Derek,I don't drink coffee or alcohol. About a week ago I woke in the middle of the night and felt like I was being strangled and gasping for air, and my neck was painful for a while, not sure what that was about, but will mention it at the hospital. The place I am going to specialises in...
