    Long(er) distance running

Phoenix, your answer was so relevant to me, it answered a question I have been asking myself since being diagnosed. I was almost there, but couldn't quite get my head around the fact that I needed glucose throughout my exercise, as everyone else seems to say reducing your bolus before exercise...

Re-using needles / changing injection location

I reuse my needles too, but only when I use Novorapid. I tend to use the same one all day and then dispose of it. I don't reuse needles when using Levemir as I found it seemed to clog up the pen. I haven't really had any problems yet except for injections being more painful and suffering more...

    help..!

Louise, the foot pain could possibly be cramp. I had the most awful cramp in my feet, particularly at night, before being diagnosed. Hope everything goes okay at the doctors.

    NEW! Accu Check Aviva Nano

I had to reorder my meter, but it was sent out within 2 days, so excellent service. I love the finger pricker, it doesn't hurt half as much as my freestyle freedom lite. I'm not used to using a new lancet every time I test, in fact I probably only change to a new lancet once every 3 weeks...

    Penny pinching????? Gripe not personal

I also use Novopens, with insulin cartridges. I didn't realise there were such things as disposable pens, why would they be necessary?

    weaning babies and diabetes risk

It seems that no matter how you bring up your child, whether breastfed or not, there is always something that you will be blamed for. I have breastfed all my children, far beyond the recommended 6 months, yet the eldest 3 all have hayfever, the second youngest has asthma, and my youngest has...

    sick child-flu

Some diabetic children do seem to take longer to recover from viruses than others. My son was ill before Christmas, he had two weeks off school. I don't understand about the leg pain, do you mean in the joints? My son complains about pain in his legs a lot, but having been checked out by the...

    Inheritance

I think inheritance does play a part in type 1. I'm type 1, my youngest son is also type one, and my sister's son is type 1.

    Work discrimination

Sounds like constructive dismissal to me Jimbo, I think you should pursue this further.

Hi Helen I have a son aged 13, diagnosed in June last year. I'm also type 1. You should be able to find someone to answer whatever questions you may have here.
