I'd just like to say thank you for all the input today and thought provoking replies it's certainly something to consider, for myself personally I will find the results of my latest test in the new year and see how 6 months of pure diet control have affected things.

Would this ever be possible with the support of a specialist, if someone can demonstrate that through tests that Type 2 is no longer present perhaps through weight loss enabling the pancreas to work more effectively or is it forever the case that you will be diagnosed as diabetic?

My biggest thing is to cut out all high carb food such as bread, flour based products including pasta and potatoes, eat lots of veg and some meat spicey food pork belly etc... Is all good lovely stir fried with no noodles.

I was also a real ale lover and have cut that out with only the occasional one being consumed.
Thanks everyone I also stopped eating crisps which was my biggest nemesis and additional sugar I used to think a chocolate bar was ok, now 85% chocolate, spicy peperami, cheese and eggs are my best friends.

3 years ago I was diagnosed as type 2, put on Metformin and over the last couple of years the dose has been increased and last year was also given a glicazide.
