I'm switching my bolus to leg only for a few weeks. Tips needed!

Next question: is it bad to use the leg if I'm eating carbs that are considered to be fast burning? I can't imagine it is, but if the insulin is still being trickled in after digestion is already finished, would that lead to a lower level than intended?

I'm switching my bolus to leg only for a few weeks. Tips needed!

You mean the flexibility required to hold and use it in my non dominant hand? I do. I can switch to arms after a few weeks and try but im so thin there's a good chance I'll run out of room and have to switch again.

I'm switching my bolus to leg only for a few weeks. Tips needed!

Back of my arms has been nothing but pain so far... and I don't mean , I mean they will still sting 20 minutes after even with a fresh needle. I'm just too skinny and have no muscle definition there (yet!). For the last 2 months I've been doing it without pinching though, maybe that's my issue...

I'm switching my bolus to leg only for a few weeks. Tips needed!

I want to give my belly area a much needed break from being filled with insulin all day, and switch to my legs for a while whenever possible (meaning: I will only use belly if I'm absolutely starving or short on time and need to eat right away) So far all I've really done is make sure that I'm...

    Caffeine and Type 1

I'm having a zero sugar energy drink later today. Good to know it will possibly change my sugars, I may post my results. I should note I don't normally get any sort of boost or rush from caffeine. As such I do not drink coffee or any energy drinks but I am trying out this one because it was...

Finally back to normal after ~2.5 hrs battling a hypo

I'm in the same boat, but to a lesser extent. I was at an 11.7 about 2.5 hours after breakfast, which confused me greatly because it was the same meal and dose as usual, and I went outside to shovel the driveway which took 15 minutes. I sat down for an hour reading a book and then checked, and I...

Has anyone tried using only the legs for bolus+basal?

In your experience, is it insulin itself that causes the fat lumps or is it the needle? I know that my fingertips are a bit callused from blood tests already. I've been changing needles more because I notice that they get my belly a bit more sore than I remember.

Has anyone tried using only the legs for bolus+basal?

My arms are tiny and I feel like I'd run out of spots real quick though. I'm currently taking bolus 3-4 times a day, and each site has to be an inch apart, and I want to avoid the same spot for a while... but there's enough real estate on my triceps for about 2 days and that's it. I think I'll...

Has anyone tried using only the legs for bolus+basal?

    1. I understand, but at the moment I'm spending a LOT of money on insulin and supplies because I don't have insurance until the summer, so my food budget is absolutely strict - still healthy, just cutting corners. Most of my protein is from yogurt and nuts right now. 2. I honestly have nothing...

Has anyone tried using only the legs for bolus+basal?

This is only curiosity speaking. I'm really skinny, I don't think I'll be able to bulk up any until I get a solid amount of money for more meat in my diet. My basal injections in my thigh don't hurt, except for the burn of the Lantus. However, my mealtime insulin hurts a lot in my belly. I have...

    Your carb nemesis?

Tonight I'm having pizza. Never had it with diabetes before. I'm going to try and survive the ordeal by splitting my dose between [before meal] and [hour after meal], that was suggested to me because of the high fat content on top of the carbs.

    Your carb nemesis?

Last night I think I found another enemy. Onion rings. The greasy, battered, fast food type. I may have not taken enough insulin, but I got a spike of 15 after eating some.

To pancake or not to pancake ? That is the question.

I have done well with pumpkin pancakes vs. buttermilk. I make sure to drop a bit of cinnamon on it too.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

It's gonna be messy. I missed my Lantus dose by almost 4 hours and I was already above 12 before I settled into bed with a correction dose. I wish I could just use "1 unit = drops 2 mmol" as a rule of thumb, but the fact that it can be 2 OR 3 makes me unsure of what I should do for correction...
