    Exercise is BAD for you!

Some of you may have seen my recent postings about how high my BS were getting... Unfortunately (Dammit), I decided to get my bike out and have cycled 10 miles a day for the last few days, and my BS's are back down to around 8 afterwards...

    Real Ale

Hi All When I had my first session with my diabetic nurse, she told me to steer clear of lagers etc - no problem as I don't drink the stuff - but I was OK to drink Real Ale (and Vodka). Over the last few weeks, my BS have been higher than normal (11 - 19) and I'm now wondering if Real Ale is...

Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

Re: Type 2's : What was your fasting blood glucose in a morn Last night's was 17.7 and this morning's was 11.7... At work this week, I've eaten walnuts, cherry tomatoes and Braeburn apples in an attempt to eat healthily... I'm puzzled...

Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

Re: Type 2's : What was your fasting blood glucose in a morn I seem to have lost the plot a bit recently... I'm regularly testing again (morning and evenings) between 12-17... Think I need to look at my diet again - maybe I got too complacent...

    Pasta Confusion

Typically, and without telling any lies, Weetabix for breakfast with a sprinkling of sugar, a sarnie of varying description from Tesco's for lunch and then some sort of pasta dish as cooked by the wife...

    Pasta Confusion

So I'm not being a total dunderhead here? I've noticed over the last few weeks/months that my BS has risen since the wife has been on this pasta diet, but I attributed that to maybe me doing less exercise over the winter months... I'll have a look to see what else I can eat to substitute pasta...

    Pasta Confusion

Firstly, many thanks for your replies... I'm grateful for your input... Secondly, this link here: http://www.diabetes.co.uk/diet/nhs-diet-advice.html says: "Together, these can be said to sum up the NHS approach to controlling type 2 diabetes with diet. Eat plenty of starchy carbohydrates"...

    Pasta Confusion

Hi All Sorry to be dense, but I'm really confused... I *think* I've read that carbs are bad for me, but I think I've also read that starchy carbs are good for me? My wife is a keen runner and she cooks loads and loads of pasta as this is what she needs. My BS levels were 17 last night and...

    Exercise is BAD for you!

Hi All I was recently (November 2010) diagnosed with T2 diabetes. My Diabetic Nurse advised that I needed to think about getting fit and doing some exercise. So I bought a pushbike in March 2011 and I cycle 6 miles or so every night. About a month ago, some dozy *&^%$ parked on double-yellow...

    A bit Giddy & Dizzy?

Hi Thanks for your replies so far... I've just spoken with another doctor who has said I shouldn't be feeling dizzy/giddy and has advised that I stop taking the Simvastatin for a week and see what happens... So I shall wait... Thanks again. Cliff

    A bit Giddy & Dizzy?

Hi All I was admitted to A&E last Wednesday night and was diagnosed as having Type 2 Diabetes. I was discharged the next day (Thursday), along with a prescription for Metformin 500mg. I then went to the GP (Friday evening) for a follow-up consultation and she prescribed: Simvastatin 40mg...
