I use Libre 2 plus currently. I have used CGM for a couple of years and I was able to better control BGL armed with knowledge about the interaction of food with my endocrine system. Sadly, unless I go quasi-carb-free I won't get below a Hb1ac of 58. I am now hovering on the commitment whether to...
I am using Creon 25000 ~4 per meal but like you I can't get them any more so take 10 x 10000 per meal (I vary it according to size and type of meal). I had partial pancreatectomy (April 2020) but still have another cyst in the remaining stump. So far that is dormant. I rely on Metformin and...
I am taking metformin and dapagliflozin but not insulin. I've had a partial pancreatectomy, and the remaining stub has a neoplastic cyst (dormant when scanned a year ago). My HbA1c is 61. I am Type2 and maybe Type 3c together. I am not getting advice that I trust; I don't know where to get it...
8.9 first thing this morning
Fasting BS level has been above 10 first thing in the morning for a while but seems to drop below 9 if I avoid carbs in the evening.
Morning levels are usually the highest BS during the day.
Perhaps, if I grit my teeth and try, I will fast for 8 hours during the day...
I don't know why the OK range is so high up to 59 mmol/mol if taking metformin, it is well above the non diabetic range.
HbA1c level is considered OK in NHS, using the NICE guidance:
Pregnancy or diet controlled patients <48 mmol/mol
Tablet treated 48 - 59 mmol/mol
Insulin treated 53 - 59...
I also have a morning rise in BGL. I have been getting a bit slack and also had to stop medication (metformin) for a couple of days.
I don't normally monitor my BGL (GP says not normal to do this if not using insulin, instead to rely on HbA1c tests a few times per year) but I decided to check...
Has been between 9 and 11, just started metformin (500g in evening) and it went up to 13! drops to about 7 during the day. I hope metformin will work combined with renewed rigour in reduced carbs. BMI is 24 but had a partial pancreatectomy a few months ago which means control by diet alone is...
I'm thinking, perhaps with evening meal would be good for a person experiencing the "Dawn Phenomenon" - raised BG levels before breakfast. The peak effect is about eight hours after taking metformin prolonged release tablets, which means it could suppress the release of glucose by the liver that...
I recently crossed from prediabetic to diabetic which I was controlling by diet. I then had a distal pancreatectomy losing about a third of my pancreas. Postoperatively the hospital put me on Lantus 10 units but the surgeon says that it still might be possible to control by diet or I might find...
