    Omnitest 3

Result RIchard - my previous GP changed my meter from the OneTouch Ultra to the MyLife Pura for cost purposes. I used it for a couple of years but it was quite fiddly. Now I've switched to the Mobile and my (new) surgery's DSN was "pursuaded" to put these on repeat prescription - she was a bit...

Who is troubled by injecting in public? Just me?

Hi - Just came across this thread and completed the survey. I too would be interested in the results but I don;t think they will change my outlook - I am usually happy to inject in public (I do in the office whereass another -female- collegue used to do hers in the toilets but then its harder to...

My last hbac (in June...bit slow to share) was 6.7 in old money - think thats 50 in the new world is it ? Happy with that as its come down from the the previous which was 7.7.....I've had a slow creeping up of these readings over my 20 year diabetes career.

Can anyone remember blood test strips in the 80s

Yes - I remember these, "load it", "prime it" and shut my eyes and try not to pull my finger away....then put a massive amount of blood on the strip. Time it, blot it and compare the colour !

type 1 diabetic out on the dating scene

Hi Jessie. Second - don't think you mentioned "online" specifically" did you ? But this will apply however you meet someone. I'd echo the sentiments here - its something you live with but not the be all and end all about you (I'm guessing!) I been out with a few women (I'm now married so no more...

    Injecting in public

Deffo do it in public (testing too!). When I was first diagnosed I used to go into the toilets but stopped that when on holiday to India soon afterwards (you can imagine! ) I've not had any adverse comments. Another point is that if you are injecting when your food arrives then if you had to...

    Testing decorum...

Really none of his busy - I'd tell him to mind his own. I have done (and will do again I'm sure) tests on buses, BR trains , tubes and so forth. It get easier as you get more used to it.

Anxious of Starting my new insulin amounts.

Hi Jacob Talk this through with the clinic - Just because they're thinking of changing to 4 injections rather than 3 doesn't mean the total dosage will go up. It will hopefully give you better control - I'm on 5 a day (typically) , 1 Glargine in the morning, 1 Novorapid for each of breakfast...

Hi Westley Welcome to the forum - I can only claim to be friendly ;o) I look forward to seeing what you find out with regards especially to how the weightlifting affects your levels as I have found a marked difference in the effects of different activities such as running/ cycling/ weights.

    Beer/alcohol

A long time ago I used to have liqueurs such as Cointreau, baileys , southern comfort etc when out on work dos as you can imagine my BS were through the roof ! These are probably best avoided - although I'm sure some might disagree ! I now stick to red wine, bourbon/whiskey with diet mixer. Real...

    Never had a hypo...

In the 20+ years of diabetes I've had one or 2 hypos...;o) Lowest was 1.5 due to over correction whilst on holiday. Woke up in a cold sweat - the bed was swimming in it ! Wasn't alone though so my wife was able to guide me to the glucose tablets - took a packet to get me feeling slightly normal.

    New to forum. Type1.

Hi J and welcome. I know that if I'm high (18 or so) and adjust for that it take 3 to 4 hours for my levels to come down (to under 9) and feel "normal" . Cheers
