Sorry to hear you are both having a bad time.
One of the worst things I find is that my diet means that we eat different things and not always at the same time.
I think you must let him cope with this in his own way and you will both need to make adjustments.
I don't think the intermittent...
Well, my GP always has a blocking answer for anything I ask. In this case, it's easy. The loading B12 dose will allow normal blood cells to be produced. Since it takes three months to replace all the blood cells, I will see a gradual improvement over that time as the bad red cells get replaced...
Thanks @HSSS , I think you are correct. It is amazing on the PA website forum how many people are desperate to get hold of B12 doses. Some even source it from abroad and self-inject eod.
My plan is to wait for the 3 months to see if the loading dose is effective - it hasn't been so far.
But...
Yes, @Goonergal I think you're right. Gut biome, bacteria and chemistry are very important in B12 assimilation. But not important now as things have gone too far, and I can no longer process B12 effectively through the stomach.
I need to find out what is causing the problem before I can fix...
Thanks @Goonergal
I was warned of the relationship only after I started metformin and then a regular blood test revealed low B12.
I haven't seen any direct statement that metformin can cause long-term B12 deficiency even after you stop taking it. Your references don't say much about the...
I have been diagnosed with this. It is quite debilitating and leaves me with very low energy levels, so I walk round very slowly like a geriatric.
The cause is that my body is unable to absorb B12 from food, so I have to have B12 injections. The deficiency leads to malformed red corpuscles...
Although, having said that, I also note that the 'Ancient Grains' version of the flatbreads contain 'Thickener (Hydroxyl Propyl Distarch Phosphate). Ugh!!
Hi JTF04
Thanks.
I have already ordered some of those, also the flatbreads, which seem even lower carb!
Unfortunately, the news from M&S is that their super seed crackers are now discontinued.
Yes, I check my ketones every few days, to see how my keto diet is going. I average about 1.6, which is fine.
I generally test in the evenings, although I would be pleased to hear from anyone who has any advice on the best time of day to test.
I am T2 by the way.
I just found that M&S no longer have their "Super Seed Crackers" on the shelves in my local stores, they have been missing for 2 weeks and they can't say if or when they will be back.
I will sorely miss those little blighters as they don't affect my BS or weight at all.
Hi
I was pretty annoyed last week when I found that my local practice had labelled me as in remission. As far as I'm concerned, I am still T2 and would quickly revert as soon as I stopped my keto diet.
I didn't say anything though as they are not interested. Can't complain because I am still...
