Diagnosed in november 2005 and prescribed Metformin.
Summer of 2006 lost 35 kgs/5.5 stones and came off Metformin.
2006 - 2015 weight crept back on, and so did my T2.
March 2015 I was admitted to hospital with lung embolism, and my T2 was 're-discovered'. I was put on insulin + victoza + xarelto (blood thinner), but soon after was told to stop the insulin, as it wasn't a good idea to start me on two new meds simultaneously. Thank you.
October 2015. I'd lost 20 odd kgs, and was the star of the endo outpatient ward.
February 2016 - March 2018. I lost a close family member, and spent 2 years grieving for her while not giving a toss about myself, eating what I shouldn't eat, I knew my BG was sky-rocketing, I drank water like a fish, peed all the time, I was ever so tired non-stop, sleept too little etc. etc. My dose of Victoza was raised, and I was given Jardiance too.
22nd of March 2018, evaluation at the endo ward. A1C was 13.4mmol/L! The doc considered starting me on insulin, but being afraid of gaining more weight I protested. Instead she doubled my dose of Jardiance.
22nd of March lab result 13.4 mmol/l
23rd of March, I cut out most carby foods and started eating sensibly. Later I cut down even further.
3rd of June - 2nd of July estimated A1C = 5.2%
My ambition is to not let myself go when the next close family member passes away.
My dad passed away on July 23rd. I think he would have enjoyed the sight of me eating a handful of almonds amidst all the bun and cream cake eating people at the gathering after his funeral.
October 4th 2018 lab result 5.8% or 40
Cholesterol far too high.
Review with endo doc on Nov. 6th 2018. Off the jardiance yay!! Total cholesterol down from 7 to 6.4, in spite of my still not eating statins. My A1C was not lab tested on this occasion, but the estimated A1C over the last month is 5.0%.
Nov. 2018 no more jardiance, victoza down by 1/3rd, metformin increased to 3 x 500mg.
10th of January 2019 lab result Hba1c 5.9 mmol/l (41 whatever). Same day I started keto and IF and keeping a food diary. This has boosted weight loss and lowered my BGs.
Weight loss March 23rd 2018 - Jan 27th 2019 19.4kgs/ nearly 43lbs.
I aim to manage T2 on very few or no meds eventually.
