    Element meter readings

I have been on Humulin 1 since September. After 4 months my HB1Ac reading was 7.4%. Readings using my Accucheck Aviva meter were averaging 7.5. Cumbria NHS have changed my meter to an Element as part of a cost saving excercise. Fair enough. However my readings are now averaging 9.2. How can I...

    Fasting blood sugar verses HbA1c

I have a problem being overweight, although it does not affect my lifestyle too drastically. I would like to lose a stone for my own comfort but using Insulin does seem to have hindered me with this. I was put on Humulin 1 last September and am now using 50 units per day., My weight has gone up...

When do they start you on insulin?

Glad to hear that Insulin has helped you, I was put onto Humulin 1 in September 14 after 15 years of tablets. I have not noticed any real changes. My BG is lower and I have put on weight, which is the opposite to what I need.

How long before you took insulin?

I was diagnosed with Type 2 in 1999 and 'progressed' through diet only to metformin, then more metformin and eventually metformin and glicazide. In September 2013 I was referred to Hospital diabetic nurse. They tried Victoza injections but they didn't reduce H1bAc levels by 10% as required so in...

Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

Is there a problem with the Accu Check? My GP has invited us to a meter demo, it will be interesting to see what they have to offer.

Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

It is frightening, impossible to contemplate moving to another country without NHS.

Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

Thanks, can't say that I feel any different. However I feel I must try to heed the warnings.

Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

Thanks, my readings were much higher when I started taking Humulin 1. I have not yet been able to go on a low carb diet. I have only recently (in the last 3 months) realised the significance with carbohydrates. I was under the impression that sugar is the problem. I joined this site hoping to...

Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

I test before bedtime and they vary quite a bit but average around 9.6. Increasing my morning Insulin doesn't seem to make any difference. I am still trying to find best time to test.Does anyone else take Insulin twice a day, if so when do you do tests?

Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

I have been put onto Insulin, which I always dreaded, but now seems inevitable. My morning readings average 5.9. Seeing diabetic nurse next month, I am not sure how well/badly I am doing.

    Stability in diabetic conditions

I have been searching for low carb bread, but it isn't easily available. I intend to try HiLo from Sainsbury next time I can get to a Sainsbury. LowLife sounds interesting but is not available. It seems strange that with so many diabetics out there more options are not available. Is there an...
