Can you eat anything with type 2 diabetes

I'd recommend Michael Mosley's 8 week blood sugar recipe book.

How often to have HbA1c tested?

I have to assume that's what's happened, but it would have been nice to be told

How often to have HbA1c tested?

Saw a locum Dr today on a non diabetes related matter, but I mentioned that I hadn't been called for an HbA1c, which I thought was due last month, and could she ask for it? She looked at my last results and commented on how well I'd done, but said she couldn't ask for it to be done as "it would...

    Struggling to get bloods down

After 6 months on a low carb diet your tastebuds will have changed so much, you'll be wondering why you ate all that rubbish!

A year down the line ...

I remember you were diagnosed just before me. I'm glad to hear you are doing well. I am due another HbA1c at the end of the month..

    Desk Job issues

I also do this, and my husband thinks it's weird. I'm glad I'm not the only one!

    Thoughtless presents

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and opinions. I knew I was too wound up to say anything last night so I'm glad I kept quiet. I will have to pick my moment and say that I appreciate the thought and effort he put in, but... I feel better for getting it off my chest. I knew you guys would...

    Thoughtless presents

I'm trying to be too nice and don't want to upset anybody. I know I need to stand up for myself and make a point about this.

    Thoughtless presents

Me and OH went away for Christmas, and agreed not to buy each other presents, as our holiday was our present. We got home last night and guess what? He's bought me a present. The bad news is, it's sweets! :banghead: We were away earlier in the year and I had a couple of these sweets and said...

    Patient access

They tell me to wait a week before phoning, but I don't think they realise that the results are on line much quicker. I would chase up getting your results on line. My surgery did it really quickly when I asked

    Patient access

My surgery is a bit slow, as I also had bloods taken at 10.20 on Monday, and the results weren't on line until Tuesday afternoon! :)

    Disappointed

It was lovely to come back and read all your encouraging comments. I know it's just a number, but psychologically it would have given me a boost to get it that one point (or more) lower. I know I started from a very high point, but I think I've got a bit complacent as I actually found it very...

    Disappointed

But I probably shouldn't be... I had my blood tests yesterday. 9 months after diagnosis. I was so hyped up, but I've looked on line and my HbA1c has come back at 42 - same as last time. I so wanted it to be non diabetic level 41. I know I've come a long way, and learned a lot, but I'm just...

    Surgery is backwards...

We used to be able to make appointments on line, but they stopped it, as patients were making unnecessary appointments. Now you have to ring up (fingers crossed you can get through) and tell the receptionist what your problem is.

More Support, less Advice for Newbies

I came here when I was newly diagnosed by my GP who's only advice was "stop eating sugary things" and with an appt to see the DN 4 weeks later. I had no idea what I should or shouldn't eat and was (still am) so grateful to everyone who gave me advice in the beginning. But even without medical...
