A weekend off type-1, now worse than ever!

Ah I see. Well I think my insulin has got too warm. I have been back on my usual routine since Monday, having thrown yet another pen away. Over the weekend I was having constant hypos throughout the day - as in below 4mmol/l. 3.2, etc. I drank/ate sugary stuff, and had lunch without insulin...

I'm sorry but if I had taken more insulin with BGs of 4mmol/l, I'd be dead.

A weekend off type-1, now worse than ever!

Yeah that sounds like what's happening. I just had to google QA, BI, etc, and I figured out what CP was but didn't realise they were in 10s (thought you just ate tiny portions!) :) So 1 unit insulin per 3 grams? That's a lot isn't it! Do lots of people require so much? I'm new to this.. I'm...

A weekend off type-1, now worse than ever!

I forgot to say.. the other thing.. I put up lots of daylight fluorescent lights in my garage - making it into a paint room, but my engine broke so I spent almost 12 hours in there. Anyone think daylight-frequency fluorescent lights can affect BGs? Maybe I should keep quiet until I get a patent...

A weekend off type-1, now worse than ever!

I've had a day off before - i.e. a day of constant hypos, and then just eating lunch without insulin, and testing at 7 - 8 mmol/l. The weekend gone, I had a whole weekend of it, and almost the Monday too. I ended up dropping my basal a bit, but now it's back at 10U at night. On the weekend...

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

Got my first set of numbers today. I was 89 at Xmas, now I'm 46. Doc says I should be very pleased. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

single (1) unit dose from Novorapid FlexPen

    That's interesting, thanks.

single (1) unit dose from Novorapid FlexPen

I mentioned before that if the insulin was diluted more, I wouldn't have this problem. e.g. if it was diluted 50/50 with something inert, then I'd be injecting 1U but the volume of liquid would be equivalent to what I get for 2U at the moment.

single (1) unit dose from Novorapid FlexPen

OK I will remember that for next time I fly! Thanks :-) Now, about that more-dilute insulin... is there such a thing?

single (1) unit dose from Novorapid FlexPen

Ah I see! Sorry ;) How come a larger airshot when coming off an aeroplane then? Does the pressure affect the pen?

I think a more dilute solution would be better.

single (1) unit dose from Novorapid FlexPen

I just checked and: BD, who make the needles, say to prime with 2U. Novo Nordisk, say to use 4U on a new pen, and 1U there onwards. I'm not sure what you mean about the dose. Whether I'd need 4U or 2U is dependant on my readings and carbs etc. I'm just not sure 1U actually gets ejected from...

single (1) unit dose from Novorapid FlexPen

True, but I'd personally say they're quite subtle! Yes they're big, but I can jab myself really quickly and easily with no fuss anywhere any time without instilling horror in people nearby ;) I quite like the pen overall. I wish I could put the cap back on with a needle on it though. I have...

    Yep that'd be it.

single (1) unit dose from Novorapid FlexPen

Hi. I'm not convinced that my Novorapid FlexPen is delivering a single dose effectively. i do prime it, although I often prime with 1U instead of 2, because it seems such a waste to prime with 2U every time. I'm sure the stuff can't leak behind the plunger, so I suppose it has to be working...
