    Not taking insulin

Hi all, Was diagnosed with Type 2 a few years ago. Sugars were very high with all the expected symptoms at the time. When i was diagnosed i was very diligent about taking insulin and metformin as directed. However, eventually, with or without meds my blood sugars were at a baseline level for...

    Come Dine With Me

I always want them on CDWM and Dinner Date to do a "normal" dinner - frozen chips and fish fingers and beans - just for the comedy value.

    Free libre sensors

Mostly adhere quite well for me but lost a few getting out of the car.

    Not taking insulin...

Thanks both - apologies for the delay in replying, been a busy week! Agree GP is the way forward - will be in touch this week. Just for clarity on the sensors - type 2 apparently (c-peptide confirms). I took (and still take) the view that as someone in my early 40's, being able to adequately...

    Not taking insulin...

Was diagnosed last year with a ridiculously high blood sugar level - straight onto insulin which brought things under control rapidly. Was also prescribed metformin a little while later About six months ago we upped my metformin dose to 4 x 500mg per day (from 2x). More or less since then i've...

    New diagnosis

Morning, Can't answer your referral question beyond my own experience - I was diagnosed in January and was called in to see the nurse the next day. Immediately on to insulin and blood monitoring. Not sure if a referral is standard or only in certain cases. That said, given your symptoms (not...

    No appetite

Over the last few months I've noticed my appetite is either none existent or I'm ravenous, there is no in-between. A typical day looks like this - Wake up - lets say between 0700 and 0900 most days, feel like breakfast, by the time its ready I've lot my appetite so it goes to waste. Take my...

    Libre scans per day?

I find that I'll check it regularly throughout the day - its cut down on my bolus insulin as I can see if I'm nearing a peak or trough so helps me work out if I actually need it or not. Considering my A1C in January when I was diagnosed was 128, most recent (August) blood test was 44 and Libre...

    New diagnosis

Definitely. Don't mind if the result is the same - think the certainty will make a difference to how things are going forwards. Thanks..

    New diagnosis

Yeah definitely, think the Vit D is more or less in hand now.. next time I speak with GP/Nurse I'm gonna run the lack of fasting past them and request a second test. They aren't keen on them though as they have to transport the sample straight to the hospital. Last time the nurse who took the...

    New diagnosis

Thanks yeah am just contemplating that! My thinking is that - Had I been fasting this would be high, had I not been fasting, this would be low, given the values in the data you shared and I've seen online. They're essentially so different as to render the results meaningless at this point...

    New diagnosis

Thank... This is the dilemma - I don't think so as I was never advised to. Struggling to remember but if memory serves it was an afternoon appointment and I'm certain that unless I was told not to, I would have eaten. Can't imagine going that long without food back in Feb as I was constantly...

    New diagnosis

Thanks yeah I think that's the key. Nurse told me about people who pay little interest when they're diagnosed - I'm the opposite - I want to know as much as possible so I can understand the implications of every decision. So valuable to hear the range of views here.
