I had a kidney transplant in 2005, from my lovely sister who came over from Australia to donate. I am very active now and really enjoy life on our Cotswold farm. We have a herd of Dexter cattle and another herd of black Galloways which keep me busy. I also run a small livery yard which gives me companionship, farming is very lonely!
My husband and I have two children, a son and daughter, they both have little girls now a source of endless enjoyment for us. The transplant has enabled me to witness our children's marriages and to have the pleasure of grandchildren. Diabetes is a new lifestyle for me, I think it has occurred because of the long term prednisolone and tacrolimus meds I have to take.
The immunosuppressants make me susceptible to infections often, but without them I could not survive.
Life is good if a little complicated at times, the forum is very useful, most of my questions are answered without my having to post.
