Hi all, so bit of background info first. I'm just over a year into a type 1 diagnosis and have done really well on the whole grasping everything. I need to decide whether i want to switch before my review in a few weeks. My last HBA1c was 53mmol/mol (on libre now estimated as 50mmol/mol / 6.7%)...
Hi all, hope everyone is well
I started hearing on the forum and gossips of the honeymoon period. For example, bad stereotypes like 'he is in the honeymoon period so no wonder he has such good control' etc. type comments from DSNs and consultants too who say it may get harder (sorry guys) - not...
Hi guys,
I did post a similar question 3-6 months ago. I'm doing well with insulin and time in range, but I have an awful time controlling my snappy moments. It's almost always when I go really high or low. I feel as though I am possessed by someone, next thing something is blurted out and it's...
Just wanted to ask as only 8 months into diagnosis (type 1 diabetes) with very good control in honeymoon period.
I'm still adjusting things with insulin and exercise, went for a swim a coupe night ago and had pizza before, reduced by 1 unit but was physically tired from work already. I could...
Thanks for the tip, I've got a CGM at the moment and just shows normal ranged although the odd one happens when I wake up and have to correct it. My CGM is quite reliable on the whole and does wake me up if it reads below 4.9, so I'm not sure what else to do!
Hi everyone,
Diagnosed T1DM last summer around 7 months and getting used to everything. The thing I don't understand is, I'm very fortunate with DAWN settling with sugars as it was a pain for a long time.
But I have noticed when waking up for work at 715-730ish, had a 7-8 hour sleep I'm very...
Hi guys,
Been diagnosed 6 months now and things are getting a bit more stable on the whole with everything. I have good time in range and on the whole doing well so far.
The only worry for the future is the diabetic nurse mentioned a few fat deposits in my belly already. I take real care to...
Thanks for the advice! Really reassuring, maybe I wasn't aware of how much I actually ate maybe.. as I try to stick to one snack only usually. Very lucky I managed to get hold of a half unit pen last month and has been a lifesaver for meals which fall 'in the middle'
So many other factors play...
I known usually people inject for snacks etc. But I was advised not to and that was about a month ago. Might ask my nurse now though as things have changed a lot and need insulin quite a bit more now! Maybe I should implement the ratio for snacks too
Thanks for the message. Today there was a bit of social pressure as we ate out with family, had a roast dinner (tricky to dose) so BMs went up to 14 after that.
But on the whole control has been good last two days otherwise. I tend to use a 30g carbs:1 unit ratio which works best. Yeah I've...
Newly diagnosed June this year type one diabetes. Been doing really well on the whole, usually 70-80% in range nowadays, so thought I'd have a snack Friday night. Usually I don't inject for snacks as still early on in honeymoon phase. I'd estimate I probably ate 30-40g carbs (30g crackers ...
It has been a tough year, been together 3 or 3 and a half years. Tend to see each other once or twice a week at the moment with us both being busy. Last few weeks I've been a bit better with managing it and my emotions as I would get snappy etc. (Not low or high levels) just in terms of...
Sorry to hear that you had that experience really poor of the nurse to communicate like that. I get they have to ask what type and treatment you have for surgery etc. but I would be tempted also to put in some type of complaint for feedback of their service (agree with EllieM).
Hi all, just wanted to ask what your experiences are around type 1 diabetes and relationships.
Me and my girlfriend have gone through a hard time in the last year, her losing her dad last year. I supported her throughout, which had its ups and downs and was challenging at times. Fast forward to...
Update: did the 20 units trick and it is spot on correct! Think it must either be rapidly changing requirements or technique.
Waiting for the DSN to phone me tomorrow so will try to update for other peoples benefit of forums etc.
