    Type 2 Disappointing HbA1c

That’s interesting, thanks. Mine didn’t seem to be all that far out so I expected a small drop - perhaps the illness and stress was enough to throw it out a bit. I wasn’t quite as strict over Christmas but I didn’t go mad by any stretch.

    Type 2 Disappointing HbA1c

This is the thing, the Freestyle Libre showed my average at about 9ish, which is why I wondered if the week of illness before the test could have had an impact as I have been testing and monitoring and all seemed well until the crazy up and down readings when I was ill. As a rule, I have Greek...

    Type 2 Disappointing HbA1c

Yes, I started out with a reading of 89 during routine tests in June 23. Retested three weeks later in July after starting 8 Week Blood Sugar Diet and it had dropped to 83. At start of Nov it was down to 68 and GP said I was doing well but started me on low dose of metformin. Now it’s 71.

    Type 2 Disappointing HbA1c

Thanks so much for your reply. I’m feeling so disappointed today as I’ve tried so hard. I guess I need to look at the bigger picture and not focus on those numbers quite so much!

    Type 2 Disappointing HbA1c

I’ve just had the results back from my blood tests after the first three months of starting 500mg of SR metformin. I’ve lost almost three stone since being diagnosed last summer and eat a low carb diet - I try really hard and am pretty strict. I used a Freestyle Libre 2 free trial in Jan, and...

    Milk and blood sugar spikes

I’ve been low-carbing since July and have lost over two stone and dropped 25 points on my HbA1C. Mostly I find it easy enough to stick to but a daily latte (decaff, semi skimmed made at home with Nespresso pods) really helps to get me through the day since I stopped snacking. Unfortunately, it...

    Reducing A1c

I eat low carb veg. No root veg and haven’t had a potato for months. Salads are lettuce, avocado, tomato, cucumber, radish. Bit of oil and vinegar. No mayo or salad cream. I’m a health journalist so pretty up to speed on nutrition. I only tend to test after dinner and sometimes first thing. I...

    Reducing A1c

I don’t test every day but I’m usually about 6ish before a meal and 9-10 2 hours after. Breakfast is Greek yogurt with berries, nuts and a little nut butter. Lunch is usually an omelette or chicken salad or cauliflower rice salad with some kind of protein. Dinner is usually chicken or fish or...

    Reducing A1c

I did the Michael Mosley low blood sugar diet (800 cals) for two months and now I’m still following main principles but not counting calories so strictly. Also using recipes from Fast 800 keto and some Glucose Goddess recipes. Still avoiding carbs and sticking to protein, healthy fat and veg...

    Reducing A1c

Thank you. Yes, I’ve been using a monitor to check and I have noticed that it’s slowly coming down over time. I’ve been avoiding bread, pasta, rice etc but if / when I reintroduce them I’ll check before and after I eat. Weight loss has plateaued a little but I’m less worried about that, I’d just...

    Reducing A1c

Thanks everyone. Had a text from GP this morning saying results were ‘much better’ and have an appointment in a week. I’ve also just joined a gym so hoping these numbers will continue to drop!

    Reducing A1c

Following some routine blood tests at the end of June I found out that my A1c was very high at 89. This was a surprise as I had no real symptoms other than losing a bit of weight which I’d put down to stress. I immediately started to follow the Michael Mosley plan and was re-tested two weeks...

    Looking for reassurance

Thank you for your response, it’s a lot to take in and I do have a tendency to catastrophize!
