Blood Sugars Ups and Downs Suspected Honeymoon

Basically.... yes. At the moment, your body has some ability to produce insulin. It won't do this regularly to help you, oh no.. it'll do it in random spurts. None at all for days, and then you won't need half the insulin for days. What sort of insulin are you on?

Who's going to have a pancake tomorrow...?

Pretty much. THe BBC has a recipe for american pancakes... i just swap out the sugar for sweetener, and use self raising and baking powder. Really thick batter, and absolutely gorgeous pancakes. They cook perfectly on a hot plate.

    Lantus vs Levemir

Lantus has been an absolute godsend. My control on it is fabuolus, and i have absolutely no issues with it, as do most people on it. Do the DAFNE course, and hopefully that will help. If that doesn't, i'd try switching, you can always swtich back. Hope the course helps :)

    Type 1 being passed down

Congratulations ! :) I think the bigger question is, does it matter? You are happy enough with your life that you're having children. You have a home, a partner, love..... Would you be happy if your child has everything you have? Yes, it can be a pain in the ass. But on the whole, i like...

    Possible allergy to insulin

There are many causes of excessive sweating, many of them completely unrelated to medications or diabetes. I'd suggest talking to your GP about it before asking to change medications, as that can be difficult and disruptive. It may not have anything to do with it, except the timing.

    Low carb restaurants

Vegetarian is simply someone who doesn't eat meat... and bread, pasta, etc don't contain any meat. So why the 'supposed'? Many diabetics don't have a problem with eating those foods either. They have a long shelf life, easy to transport, and extremely tasty and popular. If you want more...

    Ladies Shoes Recommendations For Diabetics

Yes, it's imperative that she tries them on, as peoples feet are so variable. Get them measured, and try on many different shoes. 'Diabetic' shoes are really unneccessary, any comfortable shoes will be better. Look for something with a good support on the arch, and a whole, not open, toe...

EAt what you want and correct levels with insulin

You'd rather severely restrict her diet.... for what benefit? I do that, my last Hba1c was 6.2, which i am more than happy with. As long as her hba1c is good, her weight and health are good, and she's happy, what more could you want?

    Newly Diagnosed Toddler onto pump?

Putting him on a pump without adequate support and training would be far worse than delaying a few months imo. Pumps are very new, and so there aren't that many people that have adequate knowledge to support your son, as there are many issues with living with a pump on a day to day basis. I...

Just took a reading of 3.9 - not sure what to do??

Glucose tabs are great, but basically you need something that will get about 15g of sugar into your system quickly. Those mini cans of coke are the perfect size.... as i hate the taste of gluco tabs and they always make my mouth feel funny lol. Whatever you use, make sure it's very quick...

    Type 1's and Pregnancy

I had some bad nausea, so i didn't no-carb, i just ate whatever i could lol. There's no way to really prevent spikes, you just have to get them down when you can. Stress is more dangerous, so do what you can, and relax. You WILL have highs and low's, that's unavoidable with all the hormonal /...

alcohol and insulin with Type 1

His problems are not diabetic in nature. He is an alcoholic, and an abusive drunk. No-one should put up with this, absolutely no-one. It is HIS behaviour that is wrong, not yours. He, as a grown adult, should stop drinking if this is what he is like when he is drunk. Alcohol is no...
