    I need to Rant

Hi My Hero, You're not alone in the way you feel, but don't give up on your dreams. xx Speak to the school. I've heard that the school can apply for 1to1 funding for children with diabetes - if this is the case, then you could have someone there at the school who you could train up to care...

I've hit "the wall". Just venting - sorry.

It's been 10 months since my 4 year old daughter was diagnosed type 1, I thought that was bad enough, but luckily had fantastic support from my Mum who was by my side and didn't shy away from the condition, unlike the other members of the family. Unfortunately 2 months later, my daugher made a...

Do you inject in public? and how organised are you

if I've got a thin layer of clothes on, I just go through them (only if dark coloured in case I bleed). So sit at my desk and jab through my work trousers. This won't be possible if you have a tiny needle though. Mine's 8mm long. There's probably new guidance that says injecting through...

    diabetes and parasites

Thanks all for your replies. I'm steaming every piece of fabric, disinfecting every surface and vacuuming as if my life depended on it - urghh! No weight loss - we caught her diabetes very quickly. She lost weight the week after diagnosis with avoiding food because she didn't want to get...

    diabetes and parasites

This is a bit gross, so sorry if you're eating your tea! My 4 year old was diagnosed 3 weeks ago, and we've found a pattern of ridiculous blood glucose rise as soon as she goes to bed - have had to increase her basal by 150% A couple of days ago, I found out she had threadworm/pinworm (had...

    Stomach Fat Deposits...

Not sure what needle length you're on - Might be worth asking DSN to check that the needle length suits you if you're getting fatty lumps. also, do you body brush? if it works on cellulite, then it can only do some good for injection sites. My insulin requirements went creaping up a few...

    How do you sleep?

This is just my experience, but might ring true for a few others. For years, I existed with massive headaches, I couldn't put my head below my body in case my brain exploded. My brain was foggy. palpitations, fatigue, dizziness, joint pain, stomach problems, glucose spikes,lethargy...

T1 using ALOT of insulin, any advice please

Might be completely off the mark, but would suggest you watch horizon on the iplayer. The episode on "the truth about exercise"might be interesting for anyone with insulin resistance.

    hyperglycemia when going to bed

Well I tweaked her basal from 19.30 to 22.00 hrs and got it working perfectly, until she went to bed a bit later and ended up hypo, with a massive spike later on! It appears that I'll have to either set a temporary basal whenever she goes to bed, or do a combo bolus. What an awkward time of day...

    hyperglycemia when going to bed

Thanks Riri, I've changed the pump to start the higher basal from 19.30 as suggested. Cross fingers I'll see a difference.

    hyperglycemia when going to bed

Hi there, my 4 year old daughter was diagnosed 2 weeks ago with type 1. She's on pump and is doing brilliantly. We've managed to stabilise her blood glucose (BG), but are having one problem area that is really puzzling us. BG are all between 4.5 and 6 all day, except when she goes to bed...
