    Mervyn, Lantus will not last 24hrs,no type of insulin will last this long as they all have peaks and troughs. If you continue using Lantus I would suggest splitting the dose to bring down your evening peaks, it sounds to me as if you maybe type one and need some NovoRapid, or similar, for this...
