    Either Hypos or highs!

Been type 1 for ten years now. Started with continuous glucose monitoring 5 months back with a dexcom g6. My levels seem to be hugely effected by my work load. Some days I'm office based and my levels sky rocket, other days I'm site based and hypoing. I weigh my food, carb count and eat the...

    Visual Floaters

Background Retinopaphy & Floaters After my first eye screening, I've been told after only 7 months with type 1, that I've got background retinopaphy. The letter said that I only need another check up in a years time. From what I've read it's not something to be majorly worried about at this...

When is Levimir at it's weakest??

I don't take fast acting insulin during a work day. Which is why I want to work out a way to give myself a break from the Levimir. I know everyone's different, I just wondered how Levimir affected the people who split their dose and what sort of time they get out of theirs. As I say I think...

Advice for T1 with very active job

I'm having the same problems, but I've only just been diagnosed. I manage to keep my BG below seven during the day, but have to snack between meals to keep above four. I obviously go above seven after eating, but as long as it's back down after two-three hours, I've been told this is ok. I...

When is Levimir at it's weakest??

People like to split their Levimir right?? So if you were to take only one dose per day, what time would it be best to take it if you wanted it at it's weakest say 7am - 5pm?? From my experience mine seems to peak at about 9 hours. So I'm wondering if I took my Levimir at say 1ish in the...

    Demi Pen

I probably could, but my DN thinks I shouldn't even be bothering with carb counting and ratios let alone messing with half doses lol

What do you want from a meter

The Accu-chek compact has a test strip barrel that loads into the meter. You just turn on and a meter strip hangs out the bottom. Then you use the finger pricker attached and Bob's ya Mums bruv :) But it doesn't have all the other cool stuff you mentioned and it's quite bulky. The...

    Honeymoon period over...

I can't wait till my honeymoon period is over. It's way too unpredictable for an active lifesyle. Sometimes I can't take a small enough dose, when at work or at the gym. My numbers go high then crash big time, so maybe at times like these I need the extra carbs.... Who knows.

    too cold?

I got the same problem, I work outside and usually keep a meter on me. I've got an Accu-Chek Compact plus and although it tells me it's too cold, it will still test, but the readings can't be trusted. I have to keep it in the car now wrapped in bubble wrap. Bit of a pain, but we struggle on...

    Sports?

bigdhughes I'd love to be as active as you, but having only just been diagnosed (last June) type 1, I'm struggling. My job's very physical and I struggle to get through the day without having about 3 hypos. I also struggle with the gym. Weight lifting I do OK with, not as well as I used to...

Back to work and the problems start again.

I've wondered about dropping my Levimir and just using Nova Rapid for meals, but have been told I need some slow acting stuff in my system at all times........ I'm going to speak to my nurse about my situation tomorrow, because everything seems to point to a pump. I'm not sure I want one, but...

Back to work and the problems start again.

The half pen sound great. Will speak to my Doc about it. I've thought about the pump and love the sound if it, but they seem a bit bulky from what I've seen. I think it would be better for me though. I just don't understand why after dropping my Levimir, I've been crashing so much today.

Back to work and the problems start again.

I struggle with hypos at work. I do a very physical job. I've gone down to as little as 4 Levimir on work days and don't need to take any fast acting insulin with breakfast, or my two work meals. I only use Nova Rapid with my evening meal. That's basically my situation. I have to snack...

BS goes down two hours after eating then starts rising again

As the tittle says, after eating my BS comes down to around 4, around two to three hours after eating, then starts rising again. Would this be a Levimir problem? Or am I not taking enough Nova Rapid? I would have thought if I took more Nova Rapid I would hypo, before it went back up, if that...
