Diet Only - Dr M Mosely's 8 Week Blood Sugar Diet.
Here's my journey with Diabetes T2.
I was diagnosed in 2017 HbA1c 57. Put my self on a Low Carb diet and went into remission 4 mths later. Controlled my T2 by diet through 2017 to Aug 2021. Covid appeared and during 2020/21 I fell off the bandwagon with my diet by comfort eating all the wrong foods. Hence the high HbA1c in June this year (2022). Doctor recommended I went on Metformin. Took 1 tablet and thought 'never again'. So the doc prescribed slow release Metformin instead, but I didn't take it. Instead I remained on Dr Mosley's 8 Week Blood Sugar Diet and lost a stone in first 3 weeks but although still on the diet weight seems to have plateaued. BUT the BG is coming down - 8.6 at the moment. Be interested to see my next HbA1c result after 30th August when I have the next one. Bought several books this time, Carbs & Cals which is now my bible, plus the 8 Week BSD recipe book, and Carbs & Cals Low Calorie/Carb recipe book. Was determined never to go on drugs to control a disease that was controlling me, I wanted to be in control and kick it into touch with diet only. In the beginning before my HbA1c in June I had blurry vision, blaming laser treatment I'd had last year. On a trip to the opticians he told me both eyes had changed the same amount which pointed to high blood glucose. I put myself on the 8 week BSD that day and in 10 days my sight was back to normal. Amazing!
Don't accept drugs if you can be determined and dedicated to follow a low carb/low cal diet and sticking to it. It does work but you have to make your mind up you will follow it to the letter and persevere! Good luck!
