Some background retinopathy after 7 years

Hi all I have been diagnosed 7 years ago in December. I had my ups and downs with managing blood glucose levels. Generally I would say they were quite ok. I never ended up in hospital in coma because of mismanagement. But today I have received a result of latest eye screening and I am shocked...

Going to swimming pool with diabetes T1

Hey After successfully becoming more physically active, I decided to try swimming pool. As with running, I noticed that best way to run and avoid hypos is wait at least 4h30min since last insulin injection. Otherwise, the insulin in my body will gain boost and result in hypo, even if I start...

    Easier and trickier carbs

For me good carbs are kinder Bueno bars (I got a sweet tooth ), potatoes, pizza. My glucose hardly ever rises and usually automatically synchronizes with my insulin. No matter if I prebolus or not. They are almost always right. Bad carbs. Porridge. A BIG NO NO for me. No matter how much I...

    Probiotics for gut health

I have taken few cuz I always had problems with my bowels, and guess what, nothing helped. Yoghurt is advised to improve gut bacteria, however for me it has completely opposite effect, when I started eating yoghurts daily, I ended up with 4 visits in the bathroom to do some "business". I tried...

    Why is Libre1 so inaccurate?

Thank you all for the replies. Just a little update. I called my gp and was on the phone with my doctor. He sent prescription for mobile cassette (my test strips, cassette rocher), but when I asked if my allowance for test strips could be increased. He said no because they are too expensive and...

    Why is Libre1 so inaccurate?

I am using online repeat prescription system from my GP and an option to request test strips (test cassette) is greyed out. It says next available request is at date xxxx. " Last Issued: 11 Jan 2021 Cannot order medication until 14 Apr 21" I think I can order 100test every 3 months or so, which...

    Why is Libre1 so inaccurate?

After some time I noticed my allowance for repeat prescriptions for strips is limited. I will contact my GP to increase it. Because since my libre is not accurate. I will get back to daily bg test. And in my case is similar to yours. I am using accu check, and on average they want me to do 1...

    Why is Libre1 so inaccurate?

Hey, I been using freestyle libre 1 for a year now and I haven't been doing glucose blood test, I was solely relying on libre so I wasn't double checking with glucose blood test. However, last 3 sensors were inaccurate as hell. This happened 5 min ago. I am just lying in bed browsing internet...

    Free style libre sensor

It depends on the area you live in. I used to live in Surrey and didn't even know what freestyle libre is until they told me. And my diabetic nurse asked me if I wanna join a trial for freestyle libre and I said why not, so that's how I got my libre on prescription. But when I moved to west...

Confused about speed insulin and carbs speed

Hey Recently I found myself spiking quite often, even after probolusing A LOT. The food I eat causes me to spike a lot and very quickly. I eat on breakfast, for example one crumpet 16g carbs, 250g yoghurt 12g carbs, and one medium apple 20g carbs, so in total it is 50g carbs so it is 5units of...

    Needles

These are lancets, and you should always change them. It is advised. However I change them every 5 pricks or sometimes 10 pricks if I feel lazy. Needles for insulin injection are advised to be changed each time. However I don't think everyone does. I change them at the end of the day.

Do you ALWAYS carry your diabetes gear? (insulin and glucose meter)

Hey. Even since I was diagnosed with diabetes I started carrying a backpack with me. I started carrying my insulin and my blood glucose meter with me everywhere. Even to the local shop which is 5 minutes away. And since I started carrying a backpack, I also filled it with unnecessary items like...
