Women wear do you put your pump

You can get pump belts if your clever enough you can make one yourself like I did. When I was on a tubed pump I only wore clothing with pockets, whereby I made a hole in the inside of the pocket to feed the tube through and kept the pump in the pocket. I'm glad I'm on omnipod so no clothing...

Rant about diabetes review/ GP surgery madness

They do at least for type 1. They aren't necessarily every 12 months but hare every 18months for the most part. Yearly is usually reserved for patients with background retinopathy or othe eye problems like cataracts and glaucoma. Who told you you they weren't doing the eye tests?

    Online Chat Room

There are plenty of diabetes groups on face book. This here is far more superior than any of them. It's safe and highly moderated so we all feel safe, why fix what isn't broken?

Close loop insulin pump funding NHS

I've been a podder for 20+ years, I went on the dash while waiting for omnipod 5 and dexcom g6. I got it last April. I'm in Stoke-on-Trent

My GP does not take cholesterol tests for me

When you next see your diabetes team ask them to check it. Normally they expect ha1c yearly so adding cholesterol to that is no biggy for them. As regards to statins I had side effects to them so was prescribed ezetimebe, it's not a statin but works like one. You might consider asking gp for that.

Freestyle libre 2 after 30 weeks

Hi, I had problems with libre 2. I could get an accurate reading that was even close to my finger prick result. I'm now using dexcom g6 and omnipod5. My results are almost identical, my time in range has increased also. After 34 years of battling my diabetes, which incidentally started as...

    How to pursue potential misdiagnosis?

When I was diagnosed in 1989 it was via the dreaded glucose tolerance test. Now its diagnosed differently. Upon being given steroid injections I was told by the specialist giving it, to forewarn when having any blood tests.

    Locum Trouble

Neuropathy does give a reason for amputation but if you say get ulcers or cut any part of your limb that say you didn't feel happen due to Neuropathy that's when complications set in ie infections gangrene which left untreated would lead to amputation. I have Neuropathy which can also be...

    Disposal of Libre 2

Mine go into the normal bin, as unlike omnipod where they send you a box to put used pods in,dexcom and libre don't recycle the sensors. It might be worth joining a few groups on Facebook as there's a man who recycle the transmitter from dexcom g6 you may be able to find someone who recycles...

    Global humalog shortage

I've had to use 3ml vials of humalog. Changing insulin is a no, no as humalog is the only one that doesn't cause me any problems. Hopefully they be back in stock soon.

    Sweeteners

I don't like the taste of Stevia, even the smallest amount leaves a horrible after taste. Mostly I use sweetex in hot drinks and if I want to add sweetener to my cereal I use Canderel spoonful. If making custard I use 1 tbspn of sugar rather than 2. Then again I'm on pump therapy so as long as I...

    How to pursue potential misdiagnosis?

Steroids affect glucose levels even if you don't have diabetes. Also they affect people differently. I had steroid injections due to Troncantric bursitis, my bg hardly rose yet when I had an injection for tennis elbow they rose quite a bit. So checking for diabetes around steroids would...

    Buzzing Foot

I have peripheral neuropathy according to my diabetes team when they couldn't find one of the pulses in my feet. I don't have any symptoms as of yet in my feet aside from planta facitus in the heel, which is due to fibromyalgia. I get what I call ducky feet which feels like my ankle tendons have...
