    Eat, Fast and Live Longer

I'm also going to try 2 days a week with reduced calories. In fact I started yesterday. I had 2 weetabix for breakfast, then nothing until 630pm, lentil daal. A few cups of peppermint tea through the day. I work from home, so not a physical job, but need to have my wits about me. I was fading...

    Referral to Occupational Health

I've been on both sides of this to some extent, as I manage a team of people, one of whom is diabetic. I referred him to occ health because I felt that I could not make the right decisions in order to fulfill my duty of care to him as an employee, and I did not understand the condition. Since...

    New results

I would suggest that a 0.1 difference could be within the margin of error for the test. Don't think on it as significant

    1st HBa1C after diagnosis

Thanks for the nice replies. Just keeping a good balance diet at the mo, and have maanged to lose a couple of stone. I think it will fall, though I'm not worried about taking meds if I have to. It's most likely inevitable in the future. Like one of the posters above, I am well focussed on my...

    1st HBa1C after diagnosis

It's been 3 months now, and just had the results of my first HBa1C, 53mmol/mol (7%). So quite pleased, as I know for the 1st month post-diagnosis, my sugars were still coming down. I'm diet controlled, so also happy not to have to take anything Is this pretty typical?

Effect of weight loss on BG

Thanks for the replies. I would say, I've only reduced my carbs, rather than gone to a formal 'low carb' diet. When my BG gets around 7.5, I feel so hungry and dizzy. i imagine, it's my body getting used to low BG, as it's probably been 15 for the last couple of years, I'm guessing. I guess I...

Effect of weight loss on BG

Has anyone who has gone on a low carb diet experienced an increase in BG due to fat being burned off? I had a strange rise in my BG from 7.8 to 8.9 without actually eating anything, and the only thing I can think of is that my body thinks I'm starving and is converting fat into glucose. I'm...

    Stubborn Boss

Hi, I found this very interesting as I've recently been diagnosed type 2, and am also in a position where I have employees with diabetes. My team are all field engineers, so driving is a big part of their job. Going back a while, I also asked occ health to assist me by interviewing one of my...

How long before I know whether diet control is enough?

Thankyou! I certainly will. Just tested 9.5, 2 hours after an omellette, so hopefully heading the right way :)

How long before I know whether diet control is enough?

Hello All, I'm newly diagnosed a week ago (T2), and since then have been feeling much better due to altering my diet, as per most reommendations. I am lucky that my partner is a head chef in a care home and has been cooking for diabetics for 20 years. I only got my BG monitoring kit today, so...
