    Infertility

Hi, I was diagnosed type1 at age 15 and in my mid twenties fathered two strapping sons one of who has now made me a very proud grandfather. At the time, unlike now, I really didn't pay too much attention to my diabetes control without, it seems, any adverse effect in the department you mention...

    i need to stop smoking!!

The drugs/gum/patches etc are not a 'cure' for smoking. They all have their place, I used gum, but I believe giving up smoking happens in your head. Try to think of loads of positive things about not smoking and negative things about smoking. Even to the extent of not using the term 'stop...

    Is My Doctor Right?

You are right to ensure your prescribed drugs are ok. However, if it's any help I'm type 1but also take Aspirin, Atorvastatin 10mg x 1 daily and Rampiril among others (Angina). Travel Insurance

I have not been loaded due to Diabetes by a number of companies. The highest I had to pay was about £10. A small amount, I think, for the peace of mind of knowing that the company cannot use non declaration as an excuse to avoid paying out.

Hi, great website, great forum. My main problem is too much info for my poor little brain to take in. If I could be selfish and explain MY situation in the hope that any feedback would be me specific. Here goes: Height 1.77m, weight 75.5Kg, don't drink or smoke, diet not great, diabetic control...

    TEST STRIPS

Hi, I was totally baboozled by all the fuss about test strips. I can really understand all you guys who pay being totally up in arms but I've only just become aware of the problem. I've been Diabetic for nearly forty years but have only just discovered the website. I have always had a NHS...

    Cost of test strips

Hi, after nearly forty years with Diabetes I've just discovered the website. It will change my life. Anyhow, on with the subject. Whilst browsing I've found a number of posts referring to the cost of test strips and other paraphernalia. My GP prescribes as many test strips as I need and I've...

Hi, there is a lot of information to take in, I was hoping you could help. If I am going to go on a long cycle ride, do I need to take on board extra insulin along with the required regular carbs?
