Type 1 Covid 19 jab - diabetes side affects?

Hiya! Just had my 2nd Pfizer jab and was wondering if anyone has experienced any side affects with their diabetes after having a vaccine please :) My sugars were quite high after my first but idk if that was down to stress as I had a lot going on at the same time. My manager at work is also...

    Travelling to Japan (HELP!)

Speak to your diabetes specialist and they can give you some great advice on how to manage the time change etc. Ask for a sunflower lanyard when you get to the UK airport [emoji178]

    Travelling to Japan (HELP!)

Heya! Dream come true honestly! I memorised some key words (I can remember insulin is like in-shu-ween” but honestly it was brilliant. Idk if it was the time difference or anxiety or excitement but I had perfect blood sugars whilst there despite all the stuff I was eating. Test very regularly...

    Omni pod help

Hi guys. I recently got a omnipotent experience kit and it’s the first pump I’ve not had a panic attack over the thought of (needle phobia ftw). I was wondering if these can be prescribed or if it’s something you have to pay for etc? I used to pay for Libre sensors and acted as one of their...

    Low Sugar Spasms

I had a seizure once last year but my sugars weren't low and I could prove it! Hospital didn't listen and wouldn't let me prove it so marked it down as it was caused from my diabetes [emoji17]

    Low Sugar Spasms

Yes oh my god! It only affects me if there's lots of movement or colours around me- I was at a scout festival once and had a bad hypo at the closing ceremony! I just curled up into a ball bc it was the first time I had it and didn't know what to do! [emoji23]

    Low Sugar Spasms

Hiya! I didn't know it wasn't a common side affect, but if I'm having a very low blood sugar and my body is reacting to it in a sweat, sometimes flashing lights/ lots of movement/colour cause my eyes to spasm and my head to kind of tic. My eyes go out of control and my head will flick to the...

Type 1 Packing for going abroad!

Hiya, thanks so much first of all! Now I know liquids have a limit, is there any limit on food (i.e. the fruit Pastilles) in hand luggage? Have you been to Copenhagen airport btw as I really don't know what to expect regarding a transfer. Will the X-ray machines mess up my blood tester too...

Is anywhere prescribing the Freestyle libre?

I spoke to the people where you order the sensors from, they said since the NHS have started funding to some areas (not mine :( ), they've become inundated with requests and are struggling :/

    Freestyle libre sensor fell off!

I've sent 3 back for coming off, and 2 back for the plastic bit / needle part not inserting correctly. I pay for them too so it's really annoying! Gotta remember things will only get better with them as things are relatively new still [emoji108]

Type 1 Is it wrong or weird to want to celebrate the day you got diagnosed?

Not wrong at all- treat it as a 2nd birthday- its the day you changed- you became the you you're now :) (does that make sense? [emoji23]) I hid from the date at first but when I started to look at it as my Diaversary then I started to look at my diabetes as something that isn't bad...
