    Meter discrepancies

The instructions for the machine say to use an alcohol wipe and allow time for the alcohol to evaporate.

Does anyone else notice that their blood seems a lot thinner when their blood sugars are up?

    Meter discrepancies

Oh, don't worry about that. I have done many brave experiments discovering the effects of alcohol (bravely choosing a strong spirit, brandy) on diabetes. The conclusion these brave experiments gave me is that alcohol wins. I then had a choice, to make myself slowly become very ill by imbibing...

    Meter discrepancies

Thanks for the answers. So can I eat crumpets or must I bravely re-run the experiment? (I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that crumpets were not mentally high in carbs) I am going to buy some alcohol strips today, then I know the area is clear.

    Meter discrepancies

I was today bravely carrying out an experiment involving my blood sugar and two buttered crumpets I tested myself before this important medical experiment and I was 5.1 on my tester. I bravely ate the medical specimens and waited for the suggested 2 hours before testing again. The results...

    Blood testing strips on Ebay

I am a recently diagnosed type 2 and I get the strips on prescription. If the powers that be are worried about people selling the strips on then the doctors could simply have a look at the testing machine before issuing new strips, couldn't he? Last prescription was for 50 strips? Check the...

Bananas tomatoes pineapple Bergen bread etc

I must have done, I had many tests. They thought I was type 1 at first. My BG's were over 30 which is hardly surprising considering I was feeding my raging thirst with strong full fat Vimto. I think I am due another test in May. My blood has dipped below 6 (5.6) two hours after eating three...

Bananas tomatoes pineapple Bergen bread etc

Hi Carol. My BG rarely goes below 6 and very rarely goes above 7. I even ate a big pack of cashews once and it hardly budged, then I find out they are meant to spike most diabetics. I shall keep experimenting, but I am betting a bit sore on my fingertips from the testing. What is Hba1c check...

Bananas tomatoes pineapple Bergen bread etc

Thank you VERY much for some very informative replies. I do test on a regular basis and recently the only time it has got anywhere near 7.8 was the other night when I got up too 8.8 for a few hours after having a non creamy curry with rice and nan bread. The nan bread was my first foray into...

    going over the 'safe' limit.

I am sure the figure will be questioned but for the sake of the question can we say the safe BG to be under is 7.8, my question is; Is going over the safe limit a time thing, i.e. the longer you are over it the worse it will be, or is it simply a matter of go over it and the damage is done?

Bananas tomatoes pineapple Bergen bread etc

The other posts were also helpful but this one stands out as being the sum of all my fears. may I ask what complications you are afraid of and what you think eating these items might do? Do they make your BG race up (none of these raise my BG very much, if at all) , and if so how long before...

Bananas tomatoes pineapple Bergen bread etc

As a very recently diagnosed type 2, which of the following are regarded as good or bad, there is so much conflicting opinion. Bananas Pineapple Tomato Peas Carrots Grapes Can I also please ask about Bergen bread, I spotted it in the supermarket today and I noticed it had been mentioned a few...
