    Slightly confused

Because I'm fully insulin dependent (part of my diagnosis happened by being admitted for DKA) the hospital diabetes team included CGMs in the full set of items to be prescribed by my GP when they wrote to them. I'm also prescribed fast acting insulin too but I'm managing to not have to use that...

    Slightly confused

I think his reasoning is that my FET was normal so my pancreas is still doing something rather than totally failed. It does seem to have stopped producing insulin though as I tend to trend high rather than low unless I keep on top of things. The rapid onset tends to point more towards 3c too. I...

    Slightly confused

I've just come off a call with my pancreatic surgeon and I asked a question about which type of diabetes I have as it's never really been confirmed. It came on really rapidly over 2 months and they suspected pancreatic cancer initially. Got admitted with DKA and they managed to rule out the...

    Eyesight better and worse

A couple of weeks after getting my BG under control I found I didn't need the glasses I've worn for over 30 years. This lasted for about 3 weeks before things returned to 'normal'. Recent eye test showed a slight change in prescription needed by more likely to be age related.

    Lack of connectivity.

My current sensor is doing this. Loses signal regularly. At first I thought it was due to the phone being in aeroplane mode even though Bluetooth was on and my headphones were connected. However it's continued for the last couple of days. Today it's dropped out randomly even though it's just a...

    Pancreas MRI

Based on experience, I'd expect that amount of carbs to push me up to mid 20s which might be interesting. I'll see what they say but will have stuff in the car in case things go pear shaped and I end up being kept in. I've enough experience (45 surgeries) to not rely totally on their assurances...

    Pancreas MRI

It turns out they they'll be using injectable contrast as well as the pineapple juice as one is positive contrast and the other is negative contrast. Not quite sure why they expect the patient to buy and bring it. I've left two messages with the radiology admin team but no call back so far

    Pancreas MRI

I'm having an MRI of my duff pancreas next month and he info they've sent me has me wondering how I'm going to manage things. They want a total fast for 6 hours before the MRI (no food or drink at all) and to bring 600ml of pure pineapple juice with me. I'm concerned about my blood sugar being...

BG Meter not linking to new phone

I've got a 4Sure Smart Plus BGM and it's been merrily connecting to the Diabetes:M app on my phone for months. I swapped phones over the weekend and it's not speaking properly to the new phone. It's shown as connected and the app told me the time and date on the BGM were wrong (which I...

    How much insulin is 'normal'?

I'm mostly long acting as basal and 4-6 units as bolus as required. In the last 90 days it's been 7% bolus/93% basal.

    How much insulin is 'normal'?

I was diagnosed back in February with T1D (or possibly 3c, although my FET was sent off I've not seen any results). Initially they started my on 40 units of long acting insulin but this didn't provide enough control so it was slowly raised to 60 over a period of time. Is this amount normal...

    Eyesight better on insulin?

I've worn glasses for distance since I was 16. About three weeks after starting insulin after being diagnosed at 57, I found things were getting blurry with my glasses on and I could see better without them. This lasted for about 3 weeks and now my eyes are pretty much back to normal. Was v...

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

My HbA1c back in late January before I was properly diagnosed was 97 and at the end of May it was 41 which I'm pretty proud of. I just need to start doing more exercise and lose some weight!

Libre 2 Plus - Worsening variation between sensor readings and glucose meter readings after around 8 days

Mine has given me spurious low readings for the last few sensors, usually around 3-4am. It's often 2+mmol/l lower than a finger prick. Yesterday I got 3.4 from the CGM and the finger prick was 9.1! Looking back at the graph later, that shows a reading of around 6 despite the log in the app...

    Newly Diagnosed T1D

I had samples taken for the Fecal Elastase Test to see if that enzyme is still present but haven't had the results yet. I know it takes a while to come back but it's been 6 weeks now. I must work out which consultant to chase as the management is a bit confused. I've got my first 'proper'...
