    Injecting through clothing???

God I remember being told to do it on a diabetes holiday when I must've been about 10 using vial and syringe, never done it since then though. It's rare I can't access some sort of injection site even if it's not one of the normally recommended areas.

Need help with low carb diet

Have you considered she might have been ill? I like to eat big meals from time to time. But even after stuff 2 12" deep pans it's rare to see my bloods still rising more than 12 hours after eating them compared to normal. Bare in mind one pizza probably has around 150g fat and a similar amount...

Latest update re NHS funding the Libra system

Not everyone will be aware how VAT exemption works or even that it's available, if you fill the form in for it http://www.diabetes.co.uk/vat-exemption.html might be easier to start persuading them to do the right thing.

    Total daily insulin dose.

14.5 stone 5'10", varies day to day and round the year for me. Most of the year it's 32 levemir, 32 humalog, Winter 38 levemir to 32 humalog. But if I eat well on a particular day can easily add an extra 40 units of humalog in extra.

    Exogenous Insulin question.

I've had type 1 about 27 years now, my bmi is nearly high enough to count as obese, but I'm not fat. I have an active job and 2 children so I'm actually fairly muscular. I generally eat at least 3000 calories a day, sometimes over 5000 and my insulin requirements seem higher than quite a lot I...

    It’s a struggle

I'll second this, you can definitely eat pizza but don't be an idiot like me and have 2 12" deep pans for dinner as sugars can still be going up nearly 12 hours later. Lunchtime is easier to keep tracking exactly what they'll do to your bloods.

    It’s a struggle

When do you take your insulin? Obviously before your meal, but if you give it 15-30 minutes before you could reduce that time.

    Free Money.

I feel sometimes meals like this are better for a lunch. I might be an exception as I suspect most people won't try eating 2 12" pizzas, but eating such large quantities sugars can continue rising close to 12 hours later. Obviously trying things like this would be easier if you can keep tracking...

    I like being a 'Junkie'

I've never used a wipe, yes infection risks for the majority are pretty low. Needle sterility might not affect lipohypertrophy, but I've always been told how blunt they are does. There's a lot of factors that can affect how likely you are to get it, and personally I've found I get a lot less...

    I like being a 'Junkie'

It's best practice to change your needle every time, reduces the risks of lipohypertrophy and it's more hygienic. I'm sure most people reuse them at least once in a while, whether it's forgetting to have enough with you or the odd correction shot you weren't expecting.

    I couldn't gain weight.

If you really want to gain weight at somepoint you'll have to learn to adjust your doses based on what you eat. Peanut butter is an excellent food for weight gain, high in fat, fair amount of protein and a small amount of carbohydrates. I get through about a kilogram of it a week.
