Does It Really Matter When You Take Metformin ?

from an NHS site: Metformin comes as 2 different types of tablet - standard-release tablets and slow-release tablets. Standard-release tablets release metformin into your body quickly. You may need to take them several times a day depending on your dose. Slow-release tablets dissolve slowly so...

    Diabetic Retinopathy Screening

I just had my 2nd one last week. Cardiff & Vale board, so I'm able to pop into a health centre near the office for the drops 'n' scan! I get a letter and a txt as reminders. I don't think opticians would normally do this. One bonus, you don't have to pay for a regular specs eye-test.

    Metformin and me.

David, were you being 'light hearted' about statin brain fog, or is this a real issue? The reason I ask, is because I think I've been having issues concentrating and it's been over the last 2 years that I've been on statins... Anyone else get this? (I seem to have no issues with 2x500mg...

    Addicted to sugar

i love broad beans and peas etc. yes they are very sweet/carby. a backslide is bad news for the backside? I'm finding curly kale, cabbage, broccoli etc a great substitute for rice or pasta with a sauce.

    Addicted to sugar

that's very interesting 'bout the joint pain without the low-carb. I must watch for that myself. in other news, Hershey, Cadbury etc are NOT chocolate - they's sugar and fat with a bit of cocoa powder thrown in! nothing below 70% for me! I'm afraid the office birthday cakes are my occasional...

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

hi guys. just saw this thread. I had my type II diagnosis sep/oct last year (2016) but I'd already been starting to increase my activity and cut back on the carbs. currently hovering around the 72kg mark, but my body shape is much 'healthier'. see my fitbit Aria scales history. Actually, the...

Vegetarians: What have you eaten today?

yesterday, I did my own 'raw' version of the wagammama warm tofu chilli salad. sliced and marinaded the tofu in soy-sauce, fresh ginger, hoysin paste, sesame oil and soy-millk to dilute. grated/sliced/spiralised salad veg with sugar snaps & baby sweetcorns. actually did look a bit like this -...

Vegetarians: What have you eaten today?

breakfast was mango smoothie - half amango, vegan vanilla protein powder, soy milk, coconut water, pinch of turmeric, ground linseeds. lunch was homemade apple/red-cabbage/spring-onion/carrot 'slaw' with my homemade half-fat soy/oil 'mayonaisse' with chinese leaves and sliced marinaded tofu...

How long did you think you had diabetes before diagnosis?

Interesting. I've had my diagnosis confirmed for 13 weeks (it's my last XPERT session tonight). I was not surprised. I've suspected for 2 years before that. I'm sure I've had 'bloods' at the GP before that, but he was always more concerned about my blood pressure. (Father was type-II). It's...

    Substitute for bread

this is interesting. I use my little bake-bot to make my own gluten free bread mainly out of chickpea (gram) flour, plus linseeds & sunflower seeds. I must do a nutritional breakdown. I might try half gram half soya flour too. Toast with scramble usually only at weekends.
