Why Do Diabetics Fail To Adhere To Dietary Regimes?

I was diagnosed with T2 a few years ago and have had ZERO advice on how to manage it from ANY medical professional - other than being told to take my tablets and go away and get on with my life. This clearly hasn't worked as I've recently had to increase my meds. As someone who has had pretty...

Does the heat make you feel ill

I don't cope well in this sort of heat, I never have done and especially not since I've been diagnosed. I find it very difficult to cool down once I'm too hot and ended up with mild heatstroke on Monday! It's especially bad as I work in The City and the trains always go into meltdown (the rails...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

I'm already on as much Metformin as I can be, I think. I'm being SO good and I don't understand why it's not coming down! Should it be an immediate thing or would it take a while to adjust to diet changes etc?

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

 My BG was 8.5 at 2.30 (got up VVV early to go to Billingsgate!) and then just tested it again and it's 9.1!! Not eaten anything yet so why is it higher?!!:(:oops:o_O:banghead:

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

Thank you, I'll try that tomorrow :). At the moment it's all just numbers and I'm just trying to be "sensible" but haven't had a lot of guidance or advice!!

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

I'm really new to testing.... Mine was 8.5 before breakfast. Yesterday is was 8.4 before breakfast and then went down to 7.2 2 hours after - is that normal? I'm really confused by this whole thing!!

    Painkillers

No, thank you - to be honest, I didn't really expect a definitive answer - you're not doctors after all! I think I just needed to get it off my chest! Am starting to feel a bit better now so will make an appointment with my GP before it comes back again next month!! :)

    Painkillers

I do understand why they have to check these things - I used to do the job myself, so I know what it's like! But I'm also a grown-up and not an idiot and will take responsibility for my own actions and health! Most importantly, however, I am a woman suffering from chronic and hideous "women's...

    Painkillers

Dear All, I have type 2 diabetes and am on Metformin. I'm also on blood pressure medication and I'm finding it really difficult to get hold of a decent painkiller that I'm actually allowed to take. Anyone got any suggestions other than paracetamol (that's always my first port of call, but...

    Breakfast Nightmare!

I haven't tried the Oatibix flakes yet, but I did try the biscuits and they are DISGUSTING  Like eating cardboard flavoured papier mache!! Vile - I do hope the flakes are better, although they will at least not have the horrible soggy texture, so they certainly can't be worse!!

    Breakfast Nightmare!

Thanks Ken, will definitely give that a go - my friend, who is a life coach, suggested the same thing. She also said I should get my own "special" plate in a pattern that I really like or maybe decorate one so that it's especially for me and will remind me of my goals. Will go hunting for one at...

    Breakfast Nightmare!

Thanks Ken, that really helps. I think maybe I've got too hung up on feeling confused and thinking that I should have it all sorted out already! Will try the reduced carbs route and see if that works for me - I don't think that you should cut any food groups out so will try to just limit my carb...

    Breakfast Nightmare!

Wow! 6 1/2 stone in a year is amazing going - well done!! I think I'll give the yogurt and fruit a go as it's something that I've done before and do enjoy (especially at this time of year with all the yummy fruit about!) Will maybe add a sprinkling of homemade granola so I'm getting a bit of low...

    Breakfast Nightmare!

Thanks for the replies so far, but as I have high cholesterol and am trying desperately to lose weight, cheese is a total no-go! I'm finding this all very confusing because everyone here seems to be really anti-carbs, but every healthcare professional I've spoken to since being diagnosed says...

    Breakfast Nightmare!

I'm trying to find something to eat for breakfast - I start work in London at 7am and have brekkie at my desk so it needs to be something easy, cold and portable - does anyone have any suggestions? I thought about Oatibix (as oats seem to be good things for diabetics!) with milk and fruit/ nuts...
