Being type 2 my diabetes nurse said I didn’t need to monitor my sugar levels and was not given a meter but other people I know have been but they do live in another part of the uk is it a post code lottery

I have never been given a blood monitor in the 5 years I have had diabetes. I am taking metformin and sitagliptin should I request one? Your opinions welcome I did purchase one a couple of years ago but now retired and not using it due to the expense Thanks
