    Odd Bg Readings

I've had some oddly high readings today - not over the top high, but more than 2 point change after eating. I've eaten exactly the same as I eat most day (I have a "set"of standard menus) - bacon and egg for breakfast, followed by coffee. Normally this only raises my BG by 1 point (reading...

Oh My Word! Feedback Received From My Dn

My GP said the same too - he was absolutely stunned. He's been working with diabetics for over 30 years, and had never seen results like mine - I went from an HBA1c of 51 to one of 40 in 3 months. Currently MySugr is predicting an HBA1c of 33. I love low carbing!

Sickness At Work - Help Needed

Diabetes is a long term disability in as much that it has an effect on your day to day life (and will do for more than 12 months) - as such it is covered by the Equalities Act (which has taken over from the Disability Discrimination Act) and your employers should recognise it as such. c

    Is This Normal?

I've got asthma and when I first started on metformin it made me breathless. It went away after a couple of weeks.

    LOW CARB SUCCESS STORIES

My HBA1c was 51 at diagnosis, sent on my way by a very unsympathetic GP with metformin and told to follow NHS guidelines, not test my blood, just do as I was told (which was very little actually). Found my way to this forum, read a couple of very good books and started to follow LCHF. TBH...

Have you been told not to test your blood sugars?

The GP I saw was young and fairly newly qualified - and had the old school attitude. The GP I'll be seeing in future is a long term GP, been specialising in diabetes for 30 years and is much more open to new approaches. His opinion is it's me that lives with it, and I need to manage it as well...

Have you been told not to test your blood sugars?

That happened to me too at my second appointment. I went back, having lost weight, changed my eating habits and had a print out of my BG which was much improved. I was told off - no need to test, we're not interested in daily reading, just your long term HBA1c. Upset me so much I was in tears...

    Unexplained weight gain

I did wonder if it was too much protein - I'm going to reduce my daily intake a bit, and see if that helps. The reason I want to continue to lose weight - atrial fibrillation is treated by cardiversion, and I need to be lighter for that (I'm severely obese), plus it will help with my...

    Unexplained weight gain

Hi folks I’ve been lurking on this forum for a few weeks, and I’m finally getting round to posting. I was diagnosed with T2 in January this year (my HBA1c was 51, due my next one next week, BG around 10-11), along with atrial fibrillation, a slightly enlarged heart and COPD. Not the best...
