    I don't want medication!

Hmm hard to say, having a virus or being sick could definitely be a factor. Those numbers aren't ridiculous but they do look higher than they should be. I'd suggest talking to your doctor about medication options (I know there's a couple others as well as Metformin although I don't know if they...

Should I push for insulin to preserve remaining beta cells

Whaaaat that seems crazy they just put you on Metformin rather than insulin, also can't believe it took that long for them to tell you tested positive for antibodies! I'm sure everyone is different and maybe your hba1c isn't too bad, but i first got misdiagnosed as type 2 and was put on...

Oh well that's good, but still...any time with the wrong diagnosis isn't ideal. Yeah it's definitely and ongoing learning and correcting process! Good luck!!

Whoa, that's such a long time to be diagnosed as T2 when you're LADA!! That is super frustrating your gp wasn't listening to you, I know how you feel. I remember having multiple arguments but at least mine took less than a year to get diagnosed correctly. And being on all that medication when...

Oh whoa 3 years is quite a long time with the wrong diagnosis. Good you made the decision to see an endo so you finally got the correct diagnosis! And yeah that's not great timing with covid, but not much you can do about that I guess, do you feel better now that you're on insulin? That's really...

Wow what a journey!! That is so awesome you were able to work super hard and get that weight off, well done! Also good on you for not getting to disheartened with your T2 diagnosis and still continuing your weight loss and exercise regime. I was also pretty shocked with my T2 diagnosis I wasn't...

Chia seed puddings are a really good low carb option for breakfast. I also love smoothie bowls, or coconut yoghurt with some berries

Hey, have just seen this but thought I'd reply as I'm also in NZ! For sausages I recommend Field Roasts, you can get them online at thecrueltyfreeshop.co.nz I've heard Alternative Meat Co. sausages are good too but I haven't had them. Also a good low sugar muesli is Jordan's Granola. I'm not a...

    New

It's definitely a bit scary and overwhelming when you first find out! Just try and stay positive and also try to think a bit about diet and exercise (if you don't already). that's good they've put you on the diabetes prevention program, hopefully that'll help and will be a good way to learn lots...

    Told to increase my hb1ac?

First of all, well done on getting your hba1c down to 42 from 106, that's awesome! That seems odd to me too as 5.9 isn't too low at all, and 42 sounds like a really ideal hba1c. Although 3.5 does seem quite low, so maybe that's why your new nurse is worried? Do you feel lows when you have them...

    Latest HbA1c result

That's awesome, well done! Also didn't know that low potassium levels can effect insulin levels, interesting!

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Hi! Fasting for me this morning was 5.7 but that was after a walk. I'm happy with that as lately I've been a bit higher so anything in the 5s is good for me! But it likely was higher before I went for a walk unfortunately

Oh yeah that's interesting, I have heard that viruses can have something to do with causing late onset! That's crazy you have no family history but I suppose they don't really know exactly what causes it. That sounds like you're on a pretty low amount of both long and short acting which is good...

Yeah, when I was diagnosed they said I have LADA which is a form of T1. I was also diagnosed as pre diabetic before T2, but luckily my correct diagnosis didn't take 3 years! Sorry to hear that what caused you to get diagnosed correctly was ending up in hospital with DKA when it sounds like that...
