Poll: Which diabetes course(s) have you attended?

Hi Kenny, I did DICE at Pinderfields in Wakefield, DICE is their version of DAFNE, DICE stands for Diabetes Insulin Carbohydrate Education. Very informative course, 3 days in total and half a day follow up after three months. Highly recommended.

    Levimer before pump start..

No, do not skip, inject as normal. When you then actually get your first cannula in the DSN will make a temp Basel adjustment to overcome the levimir in your system. I went onto a 640G in April and was told not to miss my AM Basel.

Buying libre sensors in a pharmacy

Price for sensors from Freestyle Libre (Abbott) direct is £48.29 + VAT, i have been using (self funding) for approx 3 years, never had an issue with a sensor being replaced due to error, or even if its fallen off. I do know, if you get them elsewhere, then you need to go to them in the first...

    Libre help

I've been using Libre for two years now. Have tried many different things, the best combination i've come across is: 1, shave the area 2, apply Skintac to the area before application 3, apply a 5 cm strip with the edges rounded off of KT tape over the sensor once applied. The KT tape will last...

Has anyone been able to recover their hypoglycemia symptoms?

I have sucessfully regained Hypo awareness, I used to run 4-5 all the time when i was on MDI, i tried (very hard) to keep it there thinking it was the best thing to do, unfortunately running this low does cause Hypos, i was told by both my Consultant and DSN to keep it higher if poss as it would...

    Libre Sensor

I've been self funding Libre for 2 years now and in all honesty i couldn't do without it. Accuracy wise it isn't the best, its generally accurate between 8&4, anything else then i need to finger prick, i use it more for my trends which i find invaluable. I'm going on a Medtronic 640g on 09th...

    Insulin resistant in the morning

@DannyG I suffer Dawn Phenomenon, the only way I can control this is to look at my evening base injection, I was stumped with it for quite some months, but with some advice from the DSN and the Dietician I changed the time of my evening Basel, I now do it aroud 22:00 (just before bed) this has...

Freestyle libre sensor, causing shoulder impingement?

@joules I've had impingement in both shoulders, it was diagnosed when i was 18 (1988) I was diagnosed with Type 1 in 1986. When impingement was initially diagnosed there wasn't much they could do. I eventually had keyhole surgery in 2011. Impingement is ultimately where there isn't enough room...

Diabetes glucose monitors 'available to thousands more'

I was at an appointment with my DSN yesterday, she told me it would be available in MidYorks NHS Trust from April 2019, at the moment they won't even consider for anyoine within the CCG area, so good news really!

    Offered Pump

So i've gone Medtronic, the date to get my pump is 26th March 2019, my CCG (midyorks) cannot say whether it will be a 640g or 670g so I suppose i'll just have to wait and see. The DSN did say though that they are hoping Freestyle Libre will be on prescription by the new financial year so thats...

    Offered Pump

@dancer. Not really, I had a few issues about 2 years ago where my control was terrible, I suppose it had been for some 10 years and I had a wake up call, went on to MDI and gained some good control back, I do suffer from mild hypo unawareness hence being accepted for a pump.
