Thanks so much for your response - my first baby was 18 earlier this year - very scary! I was originally mis-diagnosed as t2 and only recently found out I’m actually t1 so still getting my head round it all and currently injecting insulin 5 times a day but that should calm down after the birth...
I was 105 last year and earlier in the year I was 66 (after eating carbs again with no meds for 2 months) managing it diet only but am now 24 weeks pregnant and finally on insulin and managed to get it down to 44.
I’m 24 weeks pregnant and only found out last week that I’ve been misdiagnosed (1 year ago) as t2 when I’m actually t1. I’ve been managing it with diet only but was craving carbs at start of pregnancy (but no meds so untreated) Was told I need to eat carbs but potentially unwittingly damaged...
The main culprit for me was chocolate and sweets which I stopped eating straight away - the rest of my diet really isn't too bad - I'm realising the impact of carbs and reduced the amount I have. I've also joined a gym too which I'm enjoying - I think the combination of a good diet and exercise...
I had high protein bread this morning and my levels only went from 6.9 to 8.3. I'm thinking this is the way forward for me as I can't go without breakfast. Thanks
Hi, my bmi is OK so weight isn't an issue - my diet is pretty good and I've been cutting out carbs where I can except for the bread in the morning but it's the first time it went so high. I had protein bread this morning and my readings were much better - 6.9 (pre-bf) to 8.3.
I was only diagnosed about 6 weeks ago so my meter is fairly new. I think it was accurate as I kept testing every hour after and saw it slowing coming down - I also wasn't feeling great. I'm using a 'TrueYou' meter that the diabetic nurse gave me. Thanks for the advice:)
Yes I tested just before eating and 2 hours later. It might normally go up to 11 or 12 but never as high as 17.2. I struggle with what to eat for breakfast but I've managed to find some high protein bread so will try that tomorrow. I like the sound of having eggs, bacon or kippers for breakfast...
I'm type 2 - I had toast which is normal but my levels never go that high. I've been suffering with lack of sleep the last few days so not sure if that has impacted my levels. I always wash my hands before testing. Just done another test and it's now at 13.3.
