    Timing of medication doses

So, after the first week on just one tablet a day, I'm now onto two. Plan is one with breakfast and one with evening meal. Question I have is, that if my evening meal is later due to me being busy with other things, is it important that the second one is taken with the meal, or, can I take it...

Not newly diagnosed, but new on meds...

I've to hand in blood pressure figures for a week to the diabetic nurse in a few days time so I'll query on all this when I hand that in. Basically, when I first got diagnosed, back in late 2012, I weighed 135kg (6'2" male) and my HbA1c was at 13 in the old style numbers (not sure what that...

Not newly diagnosed, but new on meds...

Am I reading things correctly on that Libre website? That a new sensor would be needed to be bought every 2 weeks, at around £50?

Not newly diagnosed, but new on meds...

So, after 'reversing' my condition, a few years of poor mental health have seen me back to square one and I'm not starting out on Metformin. I guess it might be an idea for me to buy a glucose monitor to keep an eye on any progress I'm making between my reviews. Can anyone advise on a good one...

Lucozade Sport etc to aid recovery

Hi Just a quick query regarding the use of things like Lucozade Sport (or their light options) to aid recovery from runs. After my diagnosis (type 2), I took up running to improve my fitness and get my weight down. Now, just over a year after diagnosis, I am not on medication and have been...

Can diabetes be cured completely ???

Yep. The nurse told me the other day that some would say the stage I have reached would be considered reverse diabetes. She did point out though that it will always kind of be sitting there and could well flare up again should I go silly with my lifestyle.

Just checked online records ahead of review with nurse

So, met with the nurse (six months ago she switched me to six monthly reviews). Anyway, they are happy with blood sugars, blood pressure, cholesterol etc. Still considered slightly overweight, although in the space of the year since diagnosis I have gone from 21st 6lbs, to approx 14st 10lbs...

Just checked online records ahead of review with nurse

Got my six monthly review with the diabetic nurse tomorrow. So, thought I would login to the My Diabetes My Way website to see if the results were in from the blood tests. Looks positive, HbA1c is down from 7.0% to 6.4%, so now shows up as being within the target zone rather than at a...

Should I ask about the flu jab?

Currently not on medication and the nurse was happy with my progress so decided to wait six months until my next review. I know diabetics are entitled to a free flu vaccination. Do I really need it? If not, is it worth me asking for one anyway?

    Snack suggestions

Still medication free 6 months after diagnosis and will not have another review now for 6 months instead of 3. Still trying to get my weight down a wee bit more, so have been trying to have smaller meals and cut out some dodgier snacks such as toast. What would folk suggest as reasonable...

My Diabetes My Way (Scotland NHS)

Anyone use this website? Am I right in thinking the green zones on the charts are for "normal" or "good" results?
