Thank you Scott-C. The photo was taken 2 years ago on holiday for a Roarin’ Twenties night, hence the dress. I wish I was still in my twenties, thirties even. (Or maybe you just need another eye screening!)
I used to receive that standard letter for at least 20 years (been diabetic for 53 years now). The last examination showed slightly more deterioration so was sent for laser treatment a few months ago. It was something I had always been afraid of but never felt a thing. I've been back for my...
Just been to collect my prescription from my local Med Centr, and was told there is a shortage of Lantus and Sanofi don't know when they'll be producing more. Has anyone else had this problem?
I had a gold plated locket given to me about 45 years ago. Within a couple of months the plate was wearing off and my skin was green. At the time I was told it was due to the acidity of my diabetic skin. I have also been told that due to this acidity, mosquitoes tend to keep away from you. I...
1966 aged 12 for me. I agree with all the comments made previously about glass syringes, Clinitest tablets. Treatment has improved vastly since then, although a cure seems to be just as far away as it ever was (I was told a possible cure would be found within 10 years but am still waiting)...
I bought this book about five years ago and found it extremely useful. My husband looked through it and was astonished at the carbs he’d been consuming. It changed his eating habits and within three months lost three stone in weight.
I experienced two frozen shoulders some years ago. It seems, according to my Physiotherapist, at the time, it is an extremely common complaint with diabetes. Nothing really worked to help it go away but I was assured it would eventually go of it's own accord. It did! Pain free now for a...
I've never been let down by my Frio wallet so far, so will continue to use it. Mind you, I'm off to Iceland this year so I shouldn't expect any problems!
I don't have the actual temperature but even after a day in my Frio wallet they feel as cold as when I have just taken them from the fridge. I like the fact that all you need is a basin of cold water to keep them cool. I also believe insulin in a vial, that is in use, can be kept for up to a...
I’ve been using Frio wallets for some years travelling all around the world and find them invaluable. They have kept my insulin extremely cold and so easy to simply re-soak anywhere. I also put my husband’s eye drops in the wallet as these also need to be kept refrigerated.
Just renewed my driving licence for about the 12th time (every 3 years). As you say, the DVLA are pretty quick off the mark. I also received two notifications from them this weekend, the first telling me my new licence should take a couple of weeks to arrive, the second letter actually...
I took HRT for a number of years without any affect on my diabetes. I didn’t have many menopausal problems, just the hot flushes, but when you wake up 3 or 4 times a night with a hot flush and have to check your blood in case of it being a hypo, it gets really tiring. My doctor understood and...
