    Pumps for sale??

Sorry it is not a prescription item and you can buy one without medical authorisation. I was one step from buying a new pump in May over the phone. I bought a NovoPen online several years ago without anything. Agreed I had been approved for a pump but I didn't need a piece of paper or a...

    Pumps for sale??

Hi Josh Sorry to hear you didn't get funding. You can buy pumps without a prescription, it's the insulin you need a precription for. I almost bought one a month ago as my Hospital couldn't supply the pump I wanted, so I went to the manufacturer and they quoted a VAT exempt price. The hospital...

    Prediabetes to Diabetes

It is true what you say about countries struggling with the cost of a diabetes time bomb. I think anyone presenting all those symptoms you talk about would say it's diabetes not pre.

    Prediabetes to Diabetes

http://iddt.org/news/news-releases/position-statement-pre-diabetes I think it's time to stop using this unproven condition to scare people into thinking they may develop diabetes. No proof, no data. Someone is making money from it. If you believe the hype half the population of China has...

Animas Vibe, Medtronic or Accuchek Combo?

Thanks for your insight (sorry for the pun). I would like to leave a pump in my pocket by having a good remote. Sounds like they haven't got that one right. The main selling point I thought would be the use of cartridge refills. How did you find them, or did you have to refill them?

Animas Vibe, Medtronic or Accuchek Combo?

Getting back to the pump choice, I would be asking for the new Accu-Chek Insight pump. They are available now through your clinic or DSN. It will replace the Combo and is the latest pump. I'm coming off a Medtronic pump in January and hope to get the Insight.

told that a pump would be advantages to me

Sounds like you're type 1 now. Medtronic MiniMed Veo is an excellent compact little pump as long as your eyesight is good. The liquid quartz display is a bit small.

Hypo, hypo and hypo again - new to pump - advice please!!!

Ask your consultant to be referred to go on a DAFNE Course for Insulin Pumps, which is an intensive 5 day course. I think you're making too many changes in a short space of time for your levels to settle down. The course will sort out your basal profiles and carb ratio. Once that is sorted you...

    Night time insulin resistance

The pump does include active insulin in the wizard calculation, so don't add more because this stacking will swing you into a low! Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

Switching from Insulin injections to a pump?

Hi, new NICE criteria states funding can't be reason for a pump refusal. There are no PCT's anymore and there is a push to provide more pumps in this country as we are falling behind the rest of the world in pump use. I've been given a pump for 2 years as part of the REPOSE trial which started...

    Night time insulin resistance

Hi, you need to test your BG at 3am or when your pump says you have no active insulin left. Adjust or set a new nightime Basal a little higher that will keep you within the range so that your morning BG reading is around 7. It may take a few nights to adjust it, but it does sound like your...

    Insulin pens

Yes! NovoPen Echo is now available in the UK. It can deliver half units and records your last dose and how long ago you had it. I got a second one from my GP yesterday. Diabetic nurses may only give them to children which I still find unhelpful. I think it is beneficial for all ages. I have...

    Insulin pens

Yes I live in the UK. Found a site on the web that sells them to private customers. www.mediqdanmark.dk. My sister has a friend who lives in Denmark who offered to help. Originally I tried to order online myself using the friends address which was fine, but it wouldn't accept a foreign credit...
