    Basal insulin

I was diagnosed 30 years ago. Switched into Levemir about 18 months ago. They told me to try x units. Didn’t suit so I adjusted but I’m really struggling to get it right. Not sure how much is down to the amount I am taking, or how I am splitting the dose

    Basal insulin

Hi everyone, I’ve been struggling with my background insulin for a little while - just doesn’t feel that it’s right. My diabetes team are about as much use as a chocolate teapot and I’ve just been left to it to “experiment” with what works. I’ve tried adjusting it but it still doesn’t feel...

Freestyle libre 2 issue after issue

Yes, I’ve had three Libre 2 sensors failed within the first 24 hours recently. Abbot have replaced them all but still frustrating. Just a general “sensor not working” message

Ice lolly / ice cream suggestions?

Frozen dilutey - nice and easy to make, and naff all sugar. Or diet pop. We often make banana “ice cream” at home too. Slice up a banana, freeze it, and then whizz it up in a blender. Add strawberry etc to it if you wish. Not sugar free but it’s delicious all the same!

Effect of high temperatures on BG

The heat definitely affects my sugars - much less predictable in the warm weather. I find I get my hypos than anything else

    Type 1 Covid effects

I think a lot of businesses are continuing to ask people to wear masks. And a lot of people will continue to mask up, social distance and so on. There are some people that will think this is ridiculous. Honestly, though, you need to do what you feel comfortable doing. I will be continuing to...

    worries about cancer

Sure it must be scary but try not to worry until you know what you’re dealing with. It could be any number of things. I had not too dissimilar symptoms years ago. It turned out to be coeliacs. Felt full when I ate, lots of bloating but lost quite a bit of weight. Do let us know how you get on...

Thinking about moving to the pump

Asked and the lass I spoke to didn’t know the criteria - she was going to ask the consultant who would then get back to me! I’ve got a follow up appointment over the phone next week so will be asking again then. Are you under the care of the team at the old General hospital? I’m on the border...

Thinking about moving to the pump

Totally understand they there will be criteria - not clear what they are for this area (at least not clear to me). If it’s the case that I’m not meeting the criteria I’d be happy for them just to say that. Just feels like nobody is owning the request, if that makes sense. Getting passed in...

How does your diabetes care compare?

I couldn’t get parked in the hospital car park, so parked offsite. Don’t think they will care that I was stuck in an appointment, sadly. Cursing as I nearly but in more money to get an extra hour but talked myself out of it after convincing myself they wouldn’t take THAT long. My own fault but...

Thinking about moving to the pump

I’m up in Northumberland. They were fantastic at getting the Libre. The pump, though… not so much!

How does your diabetes care compare?

Ah that’s good to hear. I have to be honest, I’d much rather have appointments via phone and bloods at the GP. Perhaps hasn’t helped me mood today that I was seven minutes late getting back to my car and got a ticket

How does your diabetes care compare?

I think that’s what’s for me up a height today. The normal results are all great, and happy to get them done to make sure everything is ok. But when I’m asking for help and it’s not there, it does make me think “why can’t I just nip in to my GP surgery and have blood taken there instead of...

How does your diabetes care compare?

Ok, a little bit of a rant - and for that I apologise! Before today, I hadn’t seen my diabetes team face to face in almost two years. Had a clinic appointment this morning and it honestly felt like the biggest waste of time! Went in and was weighed and had bloods taken. Then back to the...

Thinking about moving to the pump

Thanks, @Rokaab. Here, we have (in theory, at least!) a choice of the OmniPod Dash or the Medtronic 670. I like the look of the OmniPod as it is tubeless but open to either. Like you, I find my night-time levels unpredictable. Last night, I went to bed and my sugars were 5.7 and steady. Usual...
