    New Diagnosis and update

I was diagnosed type 2 about 7 weeks ago. With the first HBCA1 of 73 and subsequently 76. I started on metformin twice daily. The surgery didn't give me a blood glucose monitor. However, I have bought one and they now do prescribe me the strips and lancets. I've tried to go low carb but do...

    DHBA2?

The surgery contacted me yesterday advising I needed bloods. I've collected the form and will get one of my hospital colleagues to take my blood. I thought it was for HBA1c which is what they mentioned on the phone. However, the form says DHBA2. Any idea what this is testing. Google doesn't...

    Diabetes and blood Pressure

I had my diagnosis of diabetes around a month ago. I've been on 500mg of Metformin twice daily. . My average blood pressure has come out at 130/89. The nurse said we could sit and monitor or start a low dose or ramipril. However, wondering if that is the right decision now.

Brilliant! You are doing very well! We asked at my last appointment that if I get my hb1ac down would I be able to come off the metformin. The nurse said no I would have to continue with it.

I have been testing but not as much as I can. That is going to change now I can easily get hold of strips. Sometimes in the 8s when fasting. Sometimes lower and higher. Still fairly high aftermeals 10-15. I had a little of a upset tummy for about 3 days but nothing else since.

I ordered some test Strips online yesterday. I submitted a request to the surgery last week and I've just seen they have authorised them on prescription [emoji16]

    Newly Diagnosed

I am going back to work on Friday. Still another week of metformin once a day. I've been testing and seeing how I react to certain carbs. Had some "good" readings with my levels. Really been struggling with my eyes. Going to have an eye test tomorrow just for reassurance. Although they seem...

She didn't really give much eating advice. Just said to eat more often. I often only have 1 meal a day which is my evening meal. I know this 100% needs to change.
