Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

Had my hba1c test today at my checkup, 5.9% :) I've been happily and consistently 6.2 or 6.3% for years now so it's nice to see some change. I put it down to using the libre, but do need to cut down the lows a bit!

    Managing exercise and insulin

Thanks, I will give it a try :) I've also got my diabetes clinic in a couple weeks so will see if my Dr has any suggestions!

    Managing exercise and insulin

I'm interested in your strategy- you say you try to avoid having any quick acting on board, do you have anything to eat before you start running? :) I've tried a few runs with no rapid insulin on board, and my blood sugars tend to go high, even if I haven't had anything to eat. Obviously...

    Managing exercise and insulin

New longest run today (8 miles) in training for my half! But completely opposite experience to the last time, when I went low mid-run. This time I woke up high in morning so ended up running with a BG of about 11. Not ideal I know, but I figured it would fall quickly. I'd had my morning levemir...

High blood sugars before bed every day

Interesting, I thought we were the normal ones haha! It always made sense to me, if you're less active (nightime) you need more basal insulin. But I guess human biology is a bit more complicated than that! Generally if I'm very active (e.g. long runs or walking alot), or very inactive during...

High blood sugars before bed every day

Thanks for your reply :) Regarding the basal, I do 5 units at 8:30 am and 13 units at 8:30pm and I'm slim, weigh about 50kg. Sounds good, I'll try to focus on getting my mealtime insulin right. I've never done split insulin before, is there any rules to this if I wanted to do it? I did...

    Managing exercise and insulin

Interesting to hear peoples experiences with running... I'm currently training for a half marathon in March (Bath!). I managed ok when I was running for half an hour but with longer distances have been struggling to keep my blood sugar up. Once it's going down its very hard to stop it going low...

High blood sugars before bed every day

Thanks for your replies! I've tried to upload screenshots of my trend graphs for a week or so, almost all days have the same trend evening. I hope this is helpful. (Note: I haven't changed the time on my reader yet because I don't want to lose an hours data!) Yes I do have quite carby meals in...

High blood sugars before bed every day

Hi there! Just trying to get some advice on whats been going on with my blood sugars! Pretty much everyday for the last couple weeks, before I go to sleep, my blood sugar has rocketed up. I use the Libre and its the same pattern every day. I eat dinner around 7-8pm (quite big meal), my blood...

Blood sugar low then high after lunch

Hypo, between 3 and 4 For lunch I'm eating at the work canteen, so it's unfortunately pretty carby stuff - e.g. lasagne, pie and mash, pasta, meat and potatoes etc. Thanks guys, that sounds like the best idea. If I prevent the hypo then I can see if I still end up going high in the...

Blood sugar low then high after lunch

Hi all! So I've been using the Libre for a couple of weeks now which has been making me look more at the peaks and try to get tighter control. But the past 4 or 5 days I've had some weird trends post-meal Breakfast is a pretty normal peak then gradual decline all the way to lunch. I do my...

    Life with Libre

Thanks all for the advice about getting it to stay on. I bought some tegaderm and that seems to be doing the trick! :) I haven't contacted Abbott yet as it seems to be holding now so I don't think there's much they would do.

    Life with Libre

Yep accuracy still seems good so far. I've put a tubigrip over that part of my arm to try to keep it on place for now. Nope I didn't knock it, just noticed it peeled up when I got out the shower.

    Life with Libre

Thanks, that makes sense! I'm guessing it's a mixture of your body gets used to it and you learn where the best place to apply it is for you. Seems less painful so far today but I have a new problem... It's peeling off - see photo. I'm guessing this isn't meant to happen haha? The adhesive...
