    Phone apps

mySugr is the best one out there in my opinion, I've tried several and this one is easy to use, fun, and best of all free!

    Regular weekly hypo

Thanks for the update, it's good to know you've managed to stop the hypos while you're at work, but as hale710 says it would be good to eliminate them totally. But I'm a fine one to talk as I average about 7-10 hypos per week!

    Carpel tunnel surgery

Sorry to hear your pain is getting worse, mine only got better over time so maybe you need to have it seen to?! I can't really remember how long I kept the dressings on for, I remember wearing a sling for about a week and I'm fairly sure I kept the dressings on until I had the stitches removed...

    Carpel tunnel surgery

I've had carpal tunnel surgery on both hands, about 6 months apart, a few years ago now. Did you have a local or general anaesthetic? Mine were both locals and my sugar levels weren't affected as far as I can remember. However, when I've had general anaesthetics, and I've had a few, my sugar...

    Regular weekly hypo

I didn't realise until I read Think Like a Pancreas by Gary Scheiner (recommended on this website by many forum users!) that mental stimulation can cause hypos. Anything from doing your weekly shop, to concentrating in a meeting, to doing sudoku puzzles can evidently lower our blood sugar...

    Regular weekly hypo

Is there anything you do differently on a Wednesday that you don't normally do during the rest of the week? Anything that involves more exercise? Anything stressful, or less stressful than normal? Anything that involves something that is mentally challenging?

    Serious night time hypos

Thanks for your suggestion unityjon, much appreciated. Since posting my original message I've tried lowering my Lantus to 11 units at night which, for now, seems to have done the trick. I've only had one night time hypo since then and it was mild enough (2.8) for me to wake up and treat...

    Serious night time hypos

I've never related hypos to the warm weather but maybe I should! I too live in London, and yes, it was very muggy last night. I had to turn the fan on after my first hypo.

    Serious night time hypos

Thanks Engineer88! What you say makes good sense, I guess there is no harm in dropping my Lantus to 10 for a while to see if it helps. I take Humalog during the day rather than Novorapid, and my ratio changes depending on what time of day it is and whether I'm stressed, etc, which doesn't...

    Serious night time hypos

Hi all, I've been a Type 1 diabetic for about 31 years now and on the whole I have good control. Lately I've been experiencing very bad night time hypos and my husband has had to revive me with Dextrose glucose tables on a few occasions now, luckily I'm conscious enough to eat them although it...

    Good old days?

Am loving this thread! I haven't had diabetes for as long as some of you but I was diagnosed in 1982 in New Zealand so it may as well have been the 70's! I remember having to rub my 2 different bottles of insulin between the palms of my hands to warm them up before painstakingly...

    First overseas trip since diagnosis

Hi Bex, I guess it depends on where you're going as things like the length of flight and type of country you're going to will make a difference to the things you need to think about. I often fly to New Zealand so am used to long haul flights, and I just make sure I test regularly and take my...

    diabetic diets in hospital

I don't know if you're specifically looking for NHS or private hospitals, but I've stayed twice at the London Clinic and they were superb. They could obviously tell after several questions that I was a well controlled Type 1 diabetic, they gave me their menu and I was left to my own devices and...
