    Higher reading

I wouldn’t worry with these readings I’ve had the liver dump frequently in the mornings and as advised before, if you eat something the dump ceases! My levels have gone up to 18 mmols before…been Type 1 for 54 years and it’s happened a few times with no reason, so don’t worry you’re doing a...

    Sweeteners

I’m Type 1 so slightly different! Unfortunately I’m very sensitive to any amount of carbs and even one cup of instant coffee with a splash of milk sends my BG’s rising Advice I offer is have a chat with a diabetes dietician

Weekend alcohol increases BG by ~0.5mmol/l for the whole week

I’m Type 1 on insulin and I have the complete opposite problem with alcohol. On the night my BG raises to ridiculous levels, despite drinking vodka with low carb tonic, and then the following few days are spent in hypo Alcohol is the devil incarnate

Libre Sensor 2 - PLEASE BE CAREFUL - Recent Issues

To keep it short and sweet I have had very similar issues with Libre 2. My diabetes consultant said it could be due to me being allergic to the sticky tape…I’m only allergic to some of them. Abbott have replaced the ones I’ve had to replace or don’t work properly. All in all I check my finger...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Type 1 for 54years and mine was 5.6, had my coffee, white no sugar, and as usual it went up to 9.2…I don’t usually correct it as my breakfast injection brings it back to normal limits

    Should a t1d follow a low carb diet ?

Hi, I’ve been a T1 for 54years and used to have to watch everything I ate and eat at specific times. Now I am allowed to eat whatever I want but due to over indulging I have to cut my carbs. Once my weight gets back to ‘normal’ levels I’ll go back to eating anything. Only thing is that you need...

    50 years this August.

Very much like yourself I have lived with Type 1 for 54 years and have experienced incredible discrimination against my need for regular breaks for food or testing. Similarly I am happy to say that thanks to my Mum for her education, support and guidance I am still here fighting fit

Issue with Libre - blank screen

Hiya it’s a problem with the update, someone made a mistake ‍♀️ If you go onto the Libre website it gives you instructions on what to do. I’ve done it and even though the app isn’t working as it was I can check my levels

    Blister

Initially Don’t Burst It! As previously keep it clean and covered (I use Compeed plasters)! Keep a close eye on it and any sign of infection, inflammation, rising sugar levels etc then get to the doctors asap! I know how painful this can be so I hope it gave you the perfect excuse to sit with...

    Type 2 Head sweats

Hi I’m Type1 and get terrible head sweats, like you said it’s like a tap! Mine are usually BG related, above 8mmols or below 5mmols the tap opens! All I can suggest is keeping an eye on your BGs and see if there’s a correlation!

Libre - start new sensor - question

How old are your phones? I had a similar problem but updated my phone, clicked on the link from Abbot to install the app and applied the Libre. It won’t connect if you haven’t attached it or completed the profile section on the app. Hope that helps!

    KETO METERS

Hi yes I have a keto meter and the blood testing strips which I got from my diabetes team at the GP. Ask them and they should give you one or a prescription for one, good luck!

    Feet

Hi welcome to the forum, I’ve been Type1 for 54 years now and my trick is to always wear wool or cotton socks and every night moisturise with a coconut oil moisturiser, put thin cotton socks on overnight…only time I have to be extra vigilant is during the winter when our feet don’t get much air...

What does your Freestyle Libre graph look like?

I’ve been using the Libre2 for a while now and find that with highs and lows there’s approximately 2-3mmols discrepancy (after doing a BG to check!) I always have my BG machine handy

Newly diagnosed 3 year old with diabetes type 1

Hi after reading down your messages I can see that you had a faulty dexcom, which is what I was going to suggest (swapping it.) To reassure you, I was diagnosed T1 at 3 years old and cannot remember before that so diabetes is just how I am ‍♀️ I have lived a great life and after having diabetes...
